Forums - Microsoft - MS: No price cut coming, blockbusters and bundles will take Xbox 360 to No.1

MS is actually shitting its pants, because Sony's plans to make PS3 more appealing to the Brits is the key to sell it a little better in America too, but without the risk of alienating the rest of EMEAA users, as instead the US-centric XBox offer does.

Where do you get this crap from seriously, always spouting off about someone being scared.

But no, America influences the UK, not the other way around. And the PS3 is already appealing to the UK, going to £199 is great, but in terms of content ect, it's all already there and they're catering well to the UK.

All MS have to do is cut price here and it evens it out.

Well I think without a price cut they will really struggle to out-sell the PS3 (In Europe) since it has been outselling the 360 there for going on two years now. Country by country obviously the UK has been more 360 than PS3, but it's the overall numbers that will define who comes out number 1, and my money is on PS3 this year.

So basically my prediction is still going to be accurate

Man when the PS3 cut price I was starting to get nervous that I predicted wrong, but luckily I didn't

Those 2 games, Forza 4 and Gear 3 are going to sell like hot cakes. I'm not really into the Gears series, but I'm really interested in Forza 4. I can't wait to see how it fares against GT5.

As for whether or not they have a shot at #1... I couldn't care less who gets to that position.  Gives me games that appeal to me, and stop with the position crap already!

As much as I would like to see 360 take #1. I just cant see it without a pricecut.
1. It has been so long that customers now expect it and will simply hold off because with Sony and Nintendo cutting prices the customer will believe 360 price cut is coming.
2. Although I am eagerly looking forward to most of those games. Nearly all of them are sequels to existing 360 games. Just dont think they will move new customers. Forza 3 came with 360s last winter. That could cause more copies of Forza 4 to sell. That doesnt mean new hardware with it.
3. Bundling a lot of software puts off new software sales. Wouldnt it be better to cut $50 from price with no software so the customer purchase software with the hardware. I like the traditional holiday bundle of 2 games, but more than 2 is risky if you ask me.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

Since you work in retail, how in advance do companies let you know they are cutting their prices?

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

Come on, MS, you can do better than this.

From boasting excessive self-confidence.

About America and UK, I wrote "a little" better, in fact. Making PS3 more US-centric could have a far worse trade-off, Sony can forget to be significantly stronger in America this gen, so it must keep on focusing on EMEAA, Japan and WW, and just be happy to grab whatever possible in USA. UK could be a bridge between the two continents, to grab some more in USA too, but without losing focus on the most important regions.

I agree a XB360 price cut should even things out, taking sales in a situation similar to the one before PS3 cut, regarding the small gap between them, but with both consoles selling better.

PS: I'm not totally serious about the pants shitting bit. But skidmarks on Baron Ballmer's pants are the ideal complement for his flooded armpits.

Not a chance in the current situation since the PS3 price will increase its lead in Japan and Europe. And if you consider Uncharted 3, Tales of Xilia, FFXIII-2, Ninokuni or Resistance, PS3 has enough exclusives to withstand the Gears/Forza offensive.

Without a 199$/€ X360 they'll never make it, so they must be hiding something. Perhaps they got DQX for 360?
