Sony’s director of global operations, Shuhei Yoshida finally spoke on the future of the PlayStation.

Yoshida said that the PS4 will happen, after the PS3 has nothing new to offer.

Yoshida said

“Looking at the platform cycle, when the platform becomes something game developers are not able to improve their creations with, that’s the time we have to really seriously consider shifting to the next generation.

Is this a good move for Sony ???

yes it is the right move

PS3 is still $249,

holidays 2013

well PS4 is already in its pre-production faze so it will likely be ready for launch in 2014 with a reveal in 2013.

dev's have already made statements about PS3's limited RAM, and i'm sure dev's are ready to get past its exotic architecture, but on that same note theres more left in this systems hardware so a wait and see approach is necessary.

They will release the system by 2015,...They want to make sure the next system last more than 10 years in the market, and capitalize on the DLC's and online content that is going to be the future of gaming. No more shopping for games at the mall, just download them straight into the console....

I think it all depends on Microsoft. if there is a new Xbox, they have to release at about the same time to be able to match them this time. however i would like about 2 more years of this gen, wait until Wii U is a year old and the next Xbox and PS4 have a hardware advantage. theres no point releasing the same year as the Wii U with the same level of specs.

i've heard Microsoft is looking into about 10GB of RAM. personally i think this seems like a bit too much. however i think RAM is maybe the most important thing next gen. i'm not sure if that controls framerate, but i think every game needs to be aiming for 60FPS, and if capable take it to the next level with HD and 120FPS.

Yes, i agree. They are going to wait until the Wii U comes out, and then see how they could compete in the Console Wars. Wii U is going to be a big impact, since its going to run at great powerful graphics, that can handle the games gamers want to play, and then also there is that little guy called "Super Mario" who continues to get 10.0 rating (Super Mario Galaxy 2)every time he comes out with the new Nintendo innovative system...Sony is desperately trying to get the gamers they lost during the Hacking Fiasco this past few months...first with the price cut, and now with the news about the PS4...
