Rumors all over the place. I know this topic has been done to death, but new information is always good to know.

hmm.. misleading thread-title , because it's not "more reports" , but it's always the same rumor on different sites with the same source-site

Lafiel: This one qualifies as a 'different' rumour, because this one was 'supposedly' confirmed by a Konami rep in the last couple of days. Doesn't mean there's any more truth to it, though.

I'm not buying it. Why would they wait until AFTER ps3 sales pick back up to go multiplat? They kept re-affirming exclusivity back in May/June/July when the ps3 could barely sell 100k a month in the US, and then after price cuts and sales spikes they decide to jump ship? It makes no sense.

I don't know what you're all talking about. I have a source who tells me everything about the console wars who works very high up inside Sony's ranks. However, I can't tell you this person's name, gender, age, or even where this person works.

Believe me though, this person is absolutely 100% real. . .

If this rumor is to be believed, the development started long before ps3 sales picked up.  Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if they had a team (a small one at least) working on a possible port to the 360 just in case.  With this much money on the line, spending a bit more on insurance wouldn't be unreasonable.

MGS4 will sell at the least 5M copies on the ps3, every hardcore ps3 fanboy will get it which is 70% of the install base.

MGS sales have been declining in the last years, and the last one sold only 1M copies on a platform with almost 4X the userbase. Do you really think that 5M is acheivable ?

Awful, awful "point"

Please tell me you're not referring to MGS:Substinence, the re-release of Snake Eater? Also, please tell me you're not referring to MGS:Portable Ops for PSP as the One Million seller. That's a piss-poor way of making a point by using PSP software sales as evidence/back-up

MGS sales have been declining in the last years? Their have been THREE main games and MGS2 outsold it's predecessor. MGS2 sold 7+ Million worldwide, Snake Eater sold 4 Million and the re-release/add-on game Substinence sold an additional 1 Million. (giving it a total of 5 Million for that game)

So the heavily advertised, hyped, built up, super marketed MGS2 outold its much lesser hyped sequel? Color me shocked. In a lot of cases for games, the first game on that console sells the most, with a decline for subsequent games for that generation. (obviously there are exceptions, like Halo:CE and Halo 2)

Also, did this informant mention how many dual-layer discs the 360 version will be on? 6?

And here I thought everyone agreed last night when we talked about this that its was bogus. O.K., Kojima has said several times that its not happening, just a few weeks ago Ryan Payton said the only way you will be able to play it is if you buy a PS3, and that site gives no evidence what so ever. All they posted was that they talked to someone they can't name and said the game has been in production for a year even tho it conflicts with every piece of evidence thus far. Its fake and just because a few sites wanted in on the B.S. web hit grab with a copy paste job doesn't make it true.

This is likely to be true.. nobody wants to commit financial suicide by releasing a ps3 exclusive. I mean, MGS4 would supposedly have to sell 1 million copies in the first day to be a success, yet there have been only four million selling games for ps3 thus far. Resistance was a launch title, Motorstorm would never have made it had it not been a pack-in and the other two (COD4 and Assassin's Creed) still sold MUCH better in their Xbox 360 seasons. If Konami were to release this title as a ps3 exclusive, I would seriously question its collective sanity.

All these rumors come from small upstart sites with "sources unnamed," so I don't know what to believe. I'll take Konami / Kojima / MS / Sony's word until otherwise stated.

I think sales of this title will be more successful on the PS3 than most people on VGChartz wish for. Well, MGS hasn't always been exclusive to Sony, so there is a good chance to see a Substance a year later.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
