Nothing on that list can compare to Chrono Trigger, I fell in love with that game eversince I played it on the SNES.
It was a toss up between Mass Effect and Oblivion. I picked Oblivion out of that list.
If I was to, however chose one RPG that is most memorable to me and I probably enjoyed the most...
Ultima VII The Black Gate.
I spent countless hours on that game back in the day. laughing at Ilo's actions. Watching Spark continually defend me and chase down an enemy to beat it down mercilessly. Oh how I miss those times.
My favourite is rogue galaxy on ps2. I have played 70+ hours of this game, the longest I have played any game in my life. Don't know why they did not release a sequel.

The final of the game really got on my nerves though. Even worst than FFVII. In this case, it was left for the player to know that Azel never had any love interest for Edge even though all they got through together. It seems that she only loved Crayman (this is not oficial though). And it seems this go for the sequel, as Orta is daugher of them both. What the fuck is Mass Effect?!! (j/k, i can't lie here) |
This is how I interpreted the end to Panzer Dragoon Saga:
The ancients built Azel with a purpose just like the dragons, towers, drones, etc. Azel was a drone. She was compelled to complete that purpose. There was no way of avoiding it, no matter who she loved or was loyal to. She protected Edge so she at the very least didn't want him hurt. The part of the ending that I never cared for, but doesn't ruin it for me, was the revelation that the player is the real hero working through edge. I'd prefer a simpler and less philosophical approach. But like I said it doesn't ruin it for me.
As for Panzer Dragoon Orta, I would have to guess that Orta was the daughter of Edge and Azel, but since there was no love scene in the game I'm just guessing. Craymen seemed more interested in Azel as a tool and didn't really consider her a real person. Edge treated her like a person with feelings and that's why they developed a relationship.
On a side note, FFVII's ending could have explained things a little better. It didn't bother me because I like ending that leave a some information up for debate. That way you have something to talk about.

That and I also wander about lost odyssey, not a bad game, but its not very high rated nor acclaimed either. A "dragon quest" and a high rated "tales of" or "suikoden" would have make more sense.
