I thought getting a patent on something required having a product implementing the stuff you're patenting.

In theory, so far as I understand US patent laws.  But the US does seem to have a problem with "fuzziness" in this area and there seems to be a lot more patent squatting and a lot of "loose" patents IMHO compared to other countries.

I might just be biased from a Euro view but it seems in the US you can patent a very loose, non-specific area and stand a fair chance of getting easy money at some point to avoid protacted haggling.  I mean some patents I've read are so vague and general I'd say they are simply ideas without the ability nor focus behind them to be viable for patenting.  But again, maybe I'm biased a bit.

Spotify france is located in my tiny office building ^^ (some hotties working there too...unless I'm mistaken which employees are in which office :p). I should try to land a job there for when i gets a 10B$ ipo ^^
