Forums - Sony - Europe (Others) Embraces Sony For The Holidays

The Beast of BluRay is beginning its rampage, there's no stopping it now.

Around the Network

they mean it in comparison to the 360
the ps3 is 600 dollars in europe, more expansive than the 360, plus it got a smaller game library and is just now starting to get its second generation games
but it still out sells the 360

''Hadouken!''

and with quite a margin this week
+100.000 consoles

360 is at around 56% of the ps3's sold this week

Yeah well, price cuts, the holiday season.. how could it not go up? :p I mean, it's not like everyone suddenly loves the ps3 now. It still has a loooong way to go to even come close to the Xbox 360. Besides, sales for ALL consoles and handhelds went up the last few months. That was only to be expected, haha.

If you'd call this embracing the ps3, they must be making sweet love to the Wii. Hot, steamy, sweet chocolately love. All night long.

Still, ps3 sales are up. About time.

 LOL.

Chocolately love is the best love of all.

̶3̶R̶D̶   2ND! Place has never been so sweet.

It's starting to look more and more likely that the PS3 will end up ahead of the 360 in Europe during 2008, but I wouldn't celebrate just yet. Recent PS3 sales are from the holidays, and people are much less concerned with high prices that time of the year, not to mention the last price cut for a long while is still probably giving some temporary boost.

The 360 is also very likely to get a price cut very soon, something the PS3 won't have for at least a year, and I'm not even going to pretend I know what'll happen after that. =P

Yeah I get that.

Anyway, erm, I live in Europe, and no, the ps3 does not cost 600 Dollars here. It costs 400 Euros. :p That would be like saying the Wii is 365 Dollars. I know with the currency exchange itcomes to that, but putting it that way is just weird.

 2008 Predictions:

Wii: 44 Million
Xbox360: 25 Million
PS3: 22 Million

DS: 90 Million
PSP: 37 Million

"the ps3 is 600 dollars in europe"

Aw come on stop converting currency. All three consoles have the same price in euro compared to the dollar price in the US. This is pretty much the same for all electronic devices like ipods etc.
Besides this I agree with you it is pretty bad for Microsoft that they haven't been able to clearly win this christmas against the PS3 when they had all the good carts. It was their best chance.

Some ppl on this site at stated that if PS3 underperforms xmas '07 then it was doomed. It hasnt and so it isnt doomed.

They may have embraced sony but they have married Nintendo and are about to have its children.

no
in europe those things are more expansive
a euro is like 1,47 dollars
so why can't you say that a ps3 costing 400 euro, costs in theory 600 dollars (almost)?

many things are more expansive in europe compared to the usa, electronics but houses and cars too

I think what he means is that $ prices are converted directly into €. For example a game costing $50 in the land of cheeseburgers will arrive on the fairer side of the puddle with a sticker that says 50€.
