Tough call for me, because I tend to like games all over the spectrum. If it's well made and fun to play, chances are I like it. I rarely rule anything out, except maybe for simulation racing games, realistic sports games like Madden, and stealth based shooters like Splinter Cell and MGS. I'm also generally not too into games that rely too much on cinematics/cutscenes, ie, most Sony games.

But I guess if I had to chose, I'd say FPS, adventure/platformer, and action based RPGs.

You left turn based strategy games out!!!!!!!!! Advance Wars, Tactics Ogre, Fire Emblem, etc.. need to have a word with you.

Aren't those considered RTS'S still...

RTS means Real Time Stragegy (like Age of Empire, Starcraft, Warcraft, Command & Conquer, etc.).  The games he mentioned are turn based, not real time. So nope.  They're not considered RTS's. :P

They're usually considered SRPGs.  Strategy RPG. ^_-

RTS - real time strategy like Starcraft, Warcraft, Command and Conquer, there are no turns between moves, continuously can move around/attack

TBS - turn based strategy like Advance Wars, Fire Emblem, Panzer General, there are turns and each unit only can move a certain amount of distance/attack a certain amount of times (usually only once), etc..  It is like a game of chess.

Jrpgs, Lost Odyssey and Enchanted Arms are my favorites.

^It is all good. It would only have gotten a few votes. Most turn based strategy games are mainly on hand helds now. I highly doubt it would have gotten more than 5 or so votes if you included it. So no worries. I just love strategy games since you don't have to worry about being the quickest, etc.. You just have to worry about making the smartest move for each turn. It is a genre that you don't have to worry about pausing, etc... Plus it makes you think!  Especially in games like Fire Emblem where your characters can't be resurrected.  One wrong move then you either have to reset or continue the game without the character (unless it is a main character then they game is over/reset to start of chapter).

Action Adventure for me. It includes games going from open world games like GTA or Just Cause to games like Uncharted or Darksiders.

Heck, we could even include Mass Effect!

Please excuse my bad English.

Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

I guess "action/adventure" would be the closest option, but I really just love third person games that mix action-based combat with large, interesting worlds to explore and a decent story, all without getting bogged down with too many items or menus.

Games that fit this description:

The Legend of Zelda series
Okami
Demon's Souls
Shadow of the Colossus

A lot of RPGs come close, but they ultimately fail due to cut/paste level design and/or too much digging around in menus (Oblivion, Final Fantasy).

action adventure and platformers have always been my top genres, but this gen RPG rank higher then anything else right other then create play share, but i voted Action adventure.

JRPGS or bust!!!
