To catch up those of you who haven't heard.

There was a scandal about journalists from news of the world (UK Sunday tabloid/paper owned by Murdoch) hacking the mobile phone of a dead girl in order to get details for the story.

The UK public reacted in a very strong way to this, much more so than I thought any large group of people would ever do about Murdoch and his businesses. As a result of this, NotW has been discontinued.

This has brought out a wave of revelations including

Bribery of police

Use of Personal Investigators to spy on the current, and previous British Prime Ministers as well as other British politicians.

Attempts to access confidential personal data of victims in the September 11 attacks.

So I'm asking VGChartz to use it's predictive abilities. What will happen to the Murdoch Empire?

Honestly, the biggest surprise here is that they do so much real investigative reporting.

I have the most epic death scene ever in VGChartz Mafia.  Thanks WordsofWisdom!

Nothing will happen. Most people probably won't even know which other titles belong to the same publisher.

This, the media does not do anything anymore, they just push the status quo until there is so much going out through other sources that they have no choice to report on it.  Now whatever the right wing does may be bad but i didn't see the same out cry when the left wing leaning newspapers  released national secrets (like the new york times did with pasrts of the Julian Asang sp? gave them) nobody went up in arms to shut them down.  I agree they went to far in the lives of private individuals but looking into the PM is bad.  Screw that i want to know everything Obama is up to and i voted for him,, gotta make sure he does not go back on anymore of what he promised to do.

I ... this post does not appear to understand the reason people are upset.  It is because of the violations of privacy and illegal acts.  Which the newspapers that printed the Wikileaks stuff are absolutely not guilty of (if anything they were exposing such things).

Hoping for the last option.

Nothing, but hoping for complete destruction.

I remember in the last thread on News of the World, some of our British posters put up a graph about how so many of the British papers have been caught red-handed paying for private information, multiple times

Nothing will happen. If anything i'm betting News Corp is just taking a chance to trim some fat...

is your statement still correct with the bolded inserted in there?

I also don't expect much to happen, but I doubt there have been multiple occasions when a British paper got caught with its hand in such an important cookie jar

News Corp have dropped their bid for BSkyB.
