Forums - Sony - PSN Pass Program: Sony's Answer to Used Game Sales?!

I honestly don't see anything wrong with that, I could care less if all game company/publishers do online pass. Used games sales do put a dent on profit. I personally buy used games if I think a games is not worth 60 bucks and I do feel a little bad that the game creators gets nothing from used game markets.

This is some bullshit sony. Maybe I want to take games to my friends house?

With the THQ pass, people have a free 2 day trial to the online. So there you go.

-_-...why are companies condemning the people who are a little short on change

Depending on where you are and where you shop is my response. If you shop at Gamestop, I will say this is a stupid comment and I'll explain why. a $60 (+tax) game in Gamestop is dropped down to the "oh such a big discount" $55 (+ tax) so either way it is not a little short on change. I understand if used games were about a 12-15$ difference but they aren't. Gamestop keeps everything made on those sales and buy the games off people for barely 10-15$ (a little more if it just came out and on high demand). So really what's the problem in paying $5 more to give the developers the money they actually deserve? So no, that little short on change is a dumb excuse really unless the gap between used and new was higher which it is not. I cannot speak for GAME in the UK though.

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.

Then maybe you can log on your account at your friends house?

Hopefully this forces gamestop to sell used games for 35euro instead of 55euro since it doesnt come with the online

This is also another thing that CAN happen if more people buy new and less and less buy used. It would force Gamestop to drop used game prices to more respectable levels to make the purchase worth it. I honestly find it disgusting when so-called "true gamers" would rather buy a $55 used game vs a $60 new game and support the developers they "oh so much love".

I laugh at all you who support this. This is only the start, just wait until they raise game prices $20 next gen and add this fee to play the single player game. Just look at DLC, it started off as a good idea to have extra content for the game you like. But no they rip content straight from the game and wait two months to charge you $15 for it, not only that but now they have DLC on the stores before the games even hit retail.

Whats that you have two kids and each with a PSN account, well thats too bad only one can play online. Whats that you want to play the game at a friends house, or give the game to a friend or family member to play. Thats too bad aswell give us another $10.

So now we have...

Game - $70
Day 1 DLC - $5
Content ripped from your game - $15
Oh whats that you want those extra maps that took them one week to make. - $45
Your brother wants to play on his account - $10

Enjoy your $145 games and remember how you wanted to support the devs as they spend 30Mil to make that game that just brought in 450million at retail.

Thanfully I'm not interested in this game because if I was, I'd be pretty disappointed for not getting to play it. I'm not buying any game that uses online pass and I'm not going to tell you why because it's been discussed countless times before. I just wanted to voice my extremely strong disapproval.

So you're going to intentionally miss out on all future EA, Sony and THQ games just because you refuse to buy the new copy? And it won't be long before all companies have one-time online passes for their games. I wouldn't be shocked if MW3 had the same thing and other big games.

Just buy the new copy son, its what you should do anyways to support the developers.

It's my decision whether I want to support the devs

Yeah that's actually a good point. I never really considered that. I like playing CoD games but I despise the fact that I'm supporting Activision when I buy them new, so good point.

I mainly just buy new so online passes aren't a big deal for me, but I do see your point.

That's stupid. Whatever little interest I had in the game is gone. I wasn't gonna buy R3 new so now I'm not even gonna bother if I have to pay for a pass.

can't you bring your ps3 to your friends house.

The used game market is the primary reason games are so expensive. If Sony, Microsoft, and, Nintendo would support this 100%, new games would start at $40 or less and thus those that wait would never have to wait for the price to drop in comparison to the price now. Of course, the used game consumer is its own enemy because they will not support this notion.

I wouldn't compare DVD and blu-ray movie price of $10-$30 because most movies make their primary revenue from the box office.
