Forums - Sony - PSN Pass Program: Sony's Answer to Used Game Sales?!

I really don't understand the big gripe to this, or, well, I understand why people gripe but I don't understand why they feel so entitled.

Is it really so hard to even show a little support for the people that brought you a game whether by paying $60 used or an extra $5 when you buy it used?

If you have the disposable income to buy a $54 used game and have a PS3 to play it on, you can probably manage to muster up that extra $5.

There are plenty of legitimate gripes about this. They are taking away something of value from games (the ability to trade them, give them to friends/family when you get tired of them, etc.), and attempting to squeeze out more revenue at the same time.

Here's the other side of the coin... why do developers feel entitled to get more benefit from used game sales than they already do?

I highly doubt this will combat used game sales as much as Sony thinks it will. What will they do if a particular game doesn't support online? Also, someone could hack the code system and start passing out ramdom codes.

On the flip side, this looks like the start of a DRM heavy era in gaming. I wouldn't be surprised if Sony took it further, and made tied to each PS3/user. I know that they want to combat used games, but they can't think of another way?

-_-...why are companies condemning the people who are a little short on change

in theory it shouldn't effect you.  right now new games are $60 and gamestop sells used for $55 on like a $20 trade-in.  if the psn pass costs $10 then in theory gamestop will have to lower used game costs to $45 to say competitive.  which in theory means if you don't care about online gaming the cost of gaming will be lowered.

i haven't payed attention to games with EA pass to see if this is how things are panning out but it will be interesting.

Actually, more than anything i'm interested to see how many "new" games get returned to gamestop when customers find out that their psn pass was already used up by the staff.  mother fuckers did that too me with rockband2 and a set of downloadable songs i was supposed to get via code but couldn't because it was already redeemed.

Not an issue. Every used game I've purchased so far was for its off-line game anyways. However, it will be interesting to see what the cost is and if people actually consider that in the cost of a used game I sell them back on Ebay.

Personally, I'm ok with these additions to used games and I almost exclusively buy used. I still get the game far cheaper and then only have to pay for a part of the service where the costs are still incurred by the company.

Seems fair.

Meh, I buy new anyway.

I hardly ever buy used, because I like to support the game company,so this really doesn't bother me.

I don't buy Sony games for online. Only game that I would be mad if they did it on is future Killzone and Uncharted games. And those I buy new because I support Naughty Dog and Guerrilla.

If the pass is 10$, I think it's fine.

i think 10$ will be the definite price, since WKC2 already introduced this, it also has an Online Pass, which costs 10€.
