Here I thought this was about California seceeding from the US. Well honestly I don't think splitting California in two is a good idea at all. Mind you I've only visited California once but I think just because the political split is vast doesn't mean you split the state in two. I mean British Columbia where I live is split the majority of the Province is Conservative but Vancouver area is strongly Liberal/NDP. However I would not consider Vancouver becoming another Province simply because Vancouverites disagree with the rest of the province politically.
In a democracy you work things out the two or three or four political parties have to work together. Seceeding every time you have a split just is immature and undemocratic. Honestly Republicans and Democrats in California who want this split need to grow up. They need to realize you don't always have to agree with everyone and getting rid of anyone you disagree with won't accomplish anything.
Look at Quebec as a Prime example. Vastly unique compared to the rest of Canada. Extremist lunatics have been trying to seperate it from Canada for decades. But this year we see that despite our differences it is beneficial for all sides that the country remain united. It would be stupid to break countries and states up along political lines.
All sides should work together and the competition makes the state/province/country stronger. Rather then splitting everything up every time you get a difference of political opinion!
