The actual comics: I pick DC as the winner. I haven't been buying comics lately, just reading older issues. DC's stories and characters just resonate with me, more. Superman is considered the first super-hero (debateable) and DC is considered the first universe. Sadly, as much as I love comics, I just can't afford the hobby anymore. It seems like comics are dying (with readership dropping and Wizard Magazine shutting down) despite comic movies being more popular than ever.

Characters: I LOVE Captain America and Daredevil. I like Wolverine, Iron Man, and Spider-Man but, up against the icons ... Aquaman,

While all your opinions are good and I understand most of them, you'd really pick Aqua Man over Namor?

Hmm, pie.

Neither:

American superhero comics are boring.

In a heartbeat!!  Aquaman is awesome!! Nobody looses and regains a hand as often as he does.  Very interesting character, actually.

I'd pick DC

Not that I don't admire his losing/regaining hand abilities. They don't hold up against the original King of Atlantis, he alone unites the whole Marvel Earth, from being a mutant, the Illuminati, once married to an Alpha Flight member, friends with the most powerful heroes, and villains if the end result is something he desires.

Although I will admit from my Marvel centric mind I'm not that familiar with all of Aquaman's exploits, hand losing/regaining aside.

When Aquaman fought Namor back in the 90's, they were pretty evenly matched.....then Aquaman dropped a whale on Sub-Mariner. (oh, and Aquaman in King of Atlantis, too!).  Advantage: Aquaman.

Pure Aquaman goodness:

I grew up on Marvel, so I obviously choose it. DC has a bigger wealth of great Graphic Novels, but as far as running books, I've always found Marvel's more "real" world locations and issue more engaging than DC's and most importantly, Spiderman.

LISTEN TO THE FIRST WORLD PODCAST REAL GAMERS, REAL AWESOME

I did say 'Original' King of Atlantis. Did they do battle in water? as if so Namor was obviously holding back, I presume this was in water as Namors strength exponentially increase in there, he's Apocalypse beating level.

Yeah, until Namor punched Aquaman so hard that he landed on the shore.  And yeah, Namor is Uber powerful.  He's been hero, villain, and everything in between.  Usually, when Namor is on your side, you're going to win.  Imperius Rex!!
