Not only that but HP laptop chargers/batteries can keep an entire house of 4 warm throughout winter.

Or at least, for the half hour until the laptop runs out of battery.

Oooh. Have I spotted another member of the site that has an HP laptop?

Fortunately replaced now by a desktop, but yes >_<

Funny, my HP DV6-6060ep lasts up to 6 hours on minimum consumption and with the Intel HD GMA graphics chip in place of the ATI Radeon 6770M HD working. I really don't see why HP's get this much hostility.

Their reliability is in the gutter, apparently.

Then again, I have an Acer, who are no less "reputable". And yet, 6 months - no hitches.

I don't understand why. My HP is recent (one month only), though two of my work collegues have their HP laptops for over 2 years with no problems at all. My Asus on the other hand was just a handful of problems after problems, yet I never heard anything against Asus before.

You have a different luck than most, then. Asus are doing great in the charts, actually. I have two PC monitors and a DVD burner from them, along with using their mobos for I dunno, 6 years at least. All absolutely pristine stuff.

My Asus suffered from the following range of problems:

- Faulty HDD drive (fried sectors)
- Colour bands on the monitor, with constant flickering
- Speakers malfunctioning at random intervals
- DVD reader would spin up, don't stop and not read the CD/DVD until I had restarted the laptop.

This was the only laptop that I had that has ever given me any problems. I owned a Toshiba Satellite for three years prior to the Asus, and it was always in top form.

I don't hate my laptop but it's got some major issues.

My only real gripe with my laptop is that it only has one vent conveniently located right underneath the laptop, which leads to massive heating issues. It was also the same issue that killed my previous laptop (but I attribute that more to the fact it was a black friday laptop for 300 dollars). I'm not sure if you have started getting ambushed by emails about the issues with their batteries yet.

The other issues I have are more due to my own stubbornness and lack of knowledge of how to fix my computer. I'd have one of my computer savvy friends take a look at it but I'm embarassed due to all the porn on my computer the fact I don't know how to fix it's errors.

Haven't had any overheating issues. Highest it's ever gone is 75º C and that was when I was playing Crysis.

Yup, i've heard about their battery issues, but wasn't that problem solved early this year and recent models aren't affected by it? The DV6-6060ep is a May model.

But that doesn't help my issue with my laptop last year. :P My battery isn't officially dead with this laptop but it definitely still has heat issues. :(

I may be wrong, but didn't HP launch a BIOS patch to help with the heat issues in the battery of the models suffering from that bug? I remember reading about it in the official HP support page
