He feels to fast. Not easy keeping up with what's on the screen and the jump feels like it has a delay. I actually prefer Sonic 4. Then again, I played the iOS version. Don't know about how the console version performs.

iOS version is same as console version with a few parts cut out and few parts added in.

But yes, I agree...he seems too fast because frame rate can't keep up. IF they squeeze more juice from the engine it should be ok. Good thing they have another 4 months to work on it.

I don't think it's on the PSN yet.

Physics felt floaty and the spring always centering sonic no matter how you land on it bothered me.

I also felt the platforming parts were thin in comparsion to the speedy cutscene-esque spots.

EDIT: I also had lag problems in the 360 demo but it was playable in game mode, provided your screen has one.

Pixel Art can be fun.

The newer Sonic games just have terrible pacing, controls, animations, level design and physics...So basically everything that makes Sonic, Sonic.

Sonic 3 nailed all these aspects for the 2D version of Sonic.

Sonic Adventure 2 nailed all these aspects for the 3D version of Sonic.

Whether it be a 2D or a 3D game, unless Sonic Team can get the game as similar as possible to the two games above me, then Sonic will never be the same. Sonic at the moment just has simplistic level design and it is too fast, it's just a button mash through the level, there are no jump calculations or complicated level designs.

*sigh* I wish I wasn't so god damn cynical, but it's true.

The first level of every sonic game never has any really great platforming, they're usually just run and gun like a mad man.

I liked the graphical design and thought it was fun but it was rather short, was expecting a 3D level seeing as they are marketing it as having both 2D and 3D elements. I know Sonic is fast but it was a bit ridiculous in that it was hard to know when to jump to avoid enemies.

i kinda agree with acevil, this feels like the kind of game i'm going to enjoy the most on a portable. is there a vita counterpart to the 3ds version?

No, it's not coming to Vita. Also, the idea of the 3DS version is that for "modern Sonic" it's using the gameplay from the modern Sonic handheld games, i.e. Sonic Rush games, which are generally considered very good games. So basically it's not really the same game as the console version at all.
