Forums - Microsoft - SEGA "definitely bought into" Kinect, 'future games will use it'

StrategyInformer

SEGA's Mike Hayes has talked a little about their Kinect plans and it seems Microsoft job's of selling the motion platform to 3rd parties has done the trick.

They've "done a great job" says Hayes, and SEGA announced Rise of Nightmares at E3 2011 exclusively for Kinect. Going forward "we're using Kinect functionality".

Mike Hayes was asked what his impressions of E3 2011 were and of the three big platform holders, and it didn't take long to circle round to Kinect.

"And on Kinect we've definitely bought into that with what Microsoft has been saying, they've done a great job on Kinect, so we've got Rise Of Nightmares exclusively on it, and we're using Kinect functionality in our games going forward. So it's ticked a lot of boxes," he said.

SEGA is most excited right now though with Gearbox Software's Aliens: Colonial Marines.

"And then I think for us the thing we're most thrilled about is Aliens: Colonial Marines, on the basis that we announced that quite a few years ago and we made a decision to craft it and spend more time with Gearbox, and I think we've been proven right by the response we've had at the show," continued SEGA West top executive, Mike Hayes.

It would appear SEGA is in agreement with Microsoft that future Xbox 360 title will at least include some form of Kinect functionality even if that's just navigating some menus or using voice-activated commands.

If kinect it the future then I guess the ps3 is going to be the only hardcore gaming system seen as
Sony has pretty much given up on motion gaming.

Well, they were one of the few publishers to really give the Wii a fair shake.

Would be cool to see how they would incorporate kinect with certain games , but I just hope it has hybrid controls

After playing (and loving) Child of Eden, I am absolutely craving a Kinect Panzer Dragoon game.

Alright Sega, now bring back Jet Set Radio and Space Channel 5 with Kinect support!

I see no problem with implementing Kinect in whatever they feel to. I just hope it remains optional, and achievements don't require it.
