Forums - Sony - VITA will be the first handheld to properly play FPS games online

Just saying. It's the ONLY handheld with dual analog controls and wifi on every system. PSP lacked these key elements and never had any big shooters. Even iPhone lacks these simple controls. and ofcourse 3DS doesnt have them.

This could be huge and start a new evolution of FPS games.

Imagine COD or Battlefield on your lunchbreak at work. Bioshock VITA multiplayer madness on the bus before school starts.

This will play a key role in the VITA's success.

Oh noooooooooo... FPS reached the handheld... that's the end.

OT. Dual analog sticks will make the gameplay more easy like console.

Thank the heavens, i cant wait lol. My only hope now is that 4g comes to it somehow so i can play anywhere i go

If Sony had a commercial of the PS Vita with a FPS game (say CoD), and showed a group of young kids playing against each other during class while the teacher is teaching then it will sell tons!

Parents wont like that commercial, but kids will want it, so parents will give in and buy it for them cause parents are more willing to blame something else rather than their own stupid parenting skills.

Evolution of Shooters?.... because VITA has daul analogs which has been around since at least PS1 days. I will definitely make it more attractive for FPS developers, but who would buy a FPS on a handheld before a console anywaz.

MTE.

There's gotta be people who wanted to play FPS, but FPS should not be the selling point of PSV. True with other handheld/home consoles. There's gotta be variety of games, all kinds should be at launch, if they wanted people to buy the handheld. Just because COD is on NGP means the people would flock all over it. I'm already sold with Vita but it would be upsetting to see games you see on launch are all shooters.

Didnt think vita had a keyboard and mouse

Dual analogs are lot more than just FPSes.

slashers, adventures, mech/flight simulators are going to benefit as much as shooters.

Hell even action rpg can benefit for them.

I would imagine that the 3DS is going to get a lot of the games too. All of the CoD games played pretty well on the DS to be honest. The touch screen, on high sensitivity, actually functioned a little bit like a mouse and had a nice effect for me. I used only my thumb, not the stylus. The 3DS has an analog nub to add more control. The 3DS will also be quite nice for FPS, IMO.

I think it is a nice addition in control options that PS Vita has the 2nd analog stick, but I don't think that will bring in a ton more FPS games. The touchscreen on Vita also doubles in that capacity, but that is still not the reason Vita will get a lot of FPS games.

The reason Vita will get more FPS games is because of easy-portability with the PS3. Developers will see Vita as an easy cash-in. I'm excited about all the cross-platform opportunities using PSN. That said, I'm also a little concerned that FPS on Vita will stifle innovation that portable gaming systems usually bring about. If developers treat Vita as a PS3-port machine, I wonder how many original titles will be passed over.
