Forums - Microsoft - New xbox 360

Microsoft wants to release a 'newer' xbox system ( hardware upgrade). They won't upgrade the CPU or GPU but they will put all the 360 components on 1 chip ( SOC system). This would reduce the power the 360 uses and the noise it makes.

What do you think? When will microsoft release this console and will it be cheaper (pricecut)?

Well, pricecut from both are coming anyway. And when M$ will release? September/October, i think.

They already released it. It's the slim. It has the Valhalla motherboard in it, which combined the CPU and GPU.

Are you refering to the ibtimes article?

If you are it's been confirmed to be a year out of date.

Smart move. It lowers the cost of producing the hardware, and cuts down power consumption.

As for making less noise...my Xbox360 is quiet, and i have the fat model. My fat PS3 only makes noise when playing Uncharted 2, and Blu-Ray movies (weird).

I'm fairly sure this has already been confirmed and is in use right now in the new 360's
