I am so confused.

Use Everest to determine make and model of your motherboard or if it's a crap one open your system case and read the model number from the board and search in google.
Then go to manufacturers site and download the driver for your mobo, and your problems are solved.

Everest downloaded as a zip file I can't use as a program, there is no program inside the zip file.

can't i just use generic drivers?

Not trying to confuse you anymore, but the answer is yes. Well, if you know what you are doing.

So I am just going to say no.

Question - Do you even know the brand of your computer parts? If not -

This nifty program tells you your computer's parts. And I think it is one of the most used for that purpose.

(Hmmm another one was suggested. Well try this one)

I can't download from that link to test it as I'm away from home and using my cell phone as a modem for my laptop and I get a speed only x4 of a dial up.

But find everest, it's a great tool that tells you what components are in your pc without having to open it up.
