Forums - Gaming - Digital distribution game rental model needs to happen

Whats taking so long? Onlive has it...3.99-5.99 for 3 days.

With Blockbuster Video going tits up in Canada (USA as well), its become rediculously hard for me to find latest releases I am not completely sold on buying without paying full 60 dollar retail price.

Combine that with the fact that trading/selling your played games is either a lot of work or has you bending over to Gamestop's rediculous trade in rates. And that whole  "online pass" that a lot of games have these days being complete BS and forcing you to buy new games instead of used...

Hopefully digital rentals is something both Sony and Microsoft are looking in to and will have ready before next gen begins.

Your right, that would be awesome. Sometimes i dont want to wait for gamefly, this would be perfect. I am guessing though that it is because Sony and Microsoft have alot on thier hands with dealing with psn and xbla in the first place. Next gen should be good though.

psn+ is basically a rental service but yeah, i agree ... we need a rental service as you described.

the games industry just overall needs to realize that never everyone is rich. if you want all economic levels to buy into the system you need a business model with flexibility. stop complaining about the used game market and do something to cater to that audience that can't afford full price.

I really 100% totally positively agree. I guess Full Game Trials on PS Plus are similar, but it could be expanded.

Do you guys have redbox in Canada? They are rolling out their video game service. Allready available in some places.
