Sony's Shuhei Yoshida Outlines PlayStation Vita Remote Play Plans!

At the Tokyo Game Show a couple of weeks back, Sony demonstrated Remote Play on PlayStation Vita, showing PlayStation 3's Killzone 3 being played remotely on the portable system. Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida has shared additional details on the company's Remote Play plans in an interview in this week's Famitsu.

The TGS demonstration was actually done via a wired connection between the PS3 and Vita. This was necessary because of the high volume of people at the event potentially causing interference. Yoshida promised that in more realistic circumstances, you'll be able to play wirelessly at the same level of speed shown at the event.

PS3 titles that are played via Remote Play need a bit of customization for memory and CPU use. Sony is finishing up work on a library that facilitates this and will be sending a beta version of this out to developers to test upcoming and old titles.

While Yoshida did not say when Remote Play support will be ready for PS3 games, Vita owners will get to try out one area of Remote Play at launch. Sony is finishing up work on the required customizations for Torne, a popular first party device that gives the PS3 digital video recorder capabilities. Following a December update, this will support Remote Play on Vita.

Outside of pure Remote Play, Vita can be used as a controller for your PlayStation 3. The system's screen can also act as a sub monitor. Yoshida said that Sony is looking into creating utility libraries that will allow PS3 developers to use the Vita's touch screen.

MOAR FANTASTIC NEWS ABOUT NEW PSV GAMES!? :D

Marvelous AQL is bringing one of AQ Interactive’s profitable browser games to PlayStation Vita. Browser Sangokushi Next is a downloadable port of their PC game with new generals and added touch screen controls.

Like its PC counter part, Browser Sangokushi Next won’t cost you a dime to download. It’s a free to play game supported by microtransactions and since it’s slated for release on December 17 it might be the first for the handheld.

Sony supports freeium games for PlayStation 3 too like Angel Love Online, which Q Entertainment brought to their console. Specific details on how payments will be processed for Browser Sangokushi Next have not been announced.

and also

"Kaio: King of Pirates for Nintendo 3DS was one of the major announcements at Marvelous AQL’s post-merger event, but they are working on PlayStation Vita titles too.

In addition to Browser Sangokushi Next, the newly formed Marvelous AQL will develop at least three games for PlayStation Vita. Marvelous showed a slide that lists the game’s genres:

- new fantasy RPG

- new fantasy action RPG

- new action adventure

Past fantasy faire for Marvelous include the Luminous Arc series and Arc Rise Fantasia, both developed by Imageepoch. "We are very close with Imageepoch still," Tomio Kanazawa, producer, said earlier in an interview with Siliconera. "We’re not sure what platform we will put the next [Luminous Arc] game on. We do want to continue making the series with them and there will be a possibility to do so down the road."]
