Forums - Gaming - PS3 Games Deal for Australians

Heya to Australian gamers of PS3.

As many know, the prices of games in Australia is significantly higher than other countries.

Hence I just wanted to offer a deal to help lighten the burden a bit.

(Note: If this post is against the rules of the forum due to its business-like nature, may the mods simply inform me and have the thread closed. I've only decided to post here since VGChartz is the only online forum that I'm a part of and hence wanted to have more connections with Australian gamers through this portal and to benefit the community.)

Simply speaking, I've got a connection to the JB Hi-Fi store in my local area. And as a result for every PS3 game release I'm able to get a few copies of it for a discount.

I sometimes sell these copies to friends as well, however they're gaming less and less now due to work demands. Hence I always have access to spares nowadays, and thought that I might as well see if anyone's interested in buying!

The deal is...

ANY game for $74 (including postage).

The games are new and unopened, and are indeed of the official Australian version (region 4) as it is in stores. You may order any games, either already released or coming soon (telling me about it earlier is good).

This may not sound like a complete bargain, but taken account that new releases generally cost at least $89 (Only a few are $79 for a limited time - e.g. L.A. Noire, Infamous 2), this is still a money saver, especially for the long haul.

I live in Sydney (North Shore area), so anyone near may also do a pick-up. For others, a simply level of trust is what we may rely on - to each other, through the use of PayPal.

Anyways, I hope some might be interested and are willing to give this a go. I'm here on this site daily, and I'm a real gamer who simply has access to cheaper games and would like to sell some to benefit those that are interested while making a small profit as well. But don't get me wrong, this is far from a business that I live on - it's just a hobby.

Please post if you have any questions. Or contact me through a private message (I could provide my private email and other details too through messaging).

And you may also find me on PSN - ID: Esquoret

Hope my trophies validate that I'm for real! Trophies have got to be useful for something... (I'm in the VGChartz Trophy League too)

Ok I may be interested so if I may I'd like to as a few questions.

What if I request a game that's been out for about 2-3 Months out for example, Crysis 2 and Portal 2. Will you still sell them at $74 or will you be willing to sell at a slightly cheaper price?

What about Collector's Editions? Like the PS3 Exlcusive steelcase collectors edition of things such as KZ3? Or are they no longer available?

umm you know you you can buy UK copies that work on 360 or wii for sub 60 dollars including postage. 1-2 weeks postage, the only reason anyone would buy off you instead of getting it 10-30 dollars cheaper is that the postage may come earlier.

You should just sell them on gumtree or someplace were the onlookers that dont know the cheaper options.

Also from selling games on ebay i know that postage for an game costs around 3 dollars since it comes under letter weight, so you should charge as low as possible on the postage.

An an thought for fact, Australians pay on average 91% more for games Online. not retail, ONLINE on steam etc.

good luck.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

Hey mate, thanks for taking interest.

For the cases of Crysis 2 and Portal 2, there's not a price drop yet in-stores - so unfortunately I can't get it for any cheaper than a brand new release. Even if there's a price drop, it actually rarely affects the price which I'm able to get the game for. So I guess my offer is worth most if used for a brand new release.

However I can do a small discount of 2 games bought together for $144 (that's $72 each).

And usually I can only get the regular editions of games. Occasionally they may come with an attached DLC if they still have stock. But entirely different editions of games I cannot attain unfortunately.

Hope that helps.

Yes I know that some people order imports, and that's fine. However some may want an Australian version, as it's simply more valuable on the market and can be traded-in at local stores, as well as making your collection look consistent (if that's your thing).

I've tried selling a few on eBay too, but the fee is brutal - and I lose money in doing so, even if users usually bid about $10 more for region 4 games.

I haven't used Gumtree before so don't know what are the fees like there.

Anyways I'm more interested in establishing longer relationships with fellow PS3 gamers.

Thanks for the reply.

I see what you mean and I totally understand that.

Another question I have is then what of older games? So let's say a game like God of War Collection. How would the pricing work for those types of games?

This has my interest because I'm a collector pretty much :). I collect my games, never buy used and buy collector's editions when possible. And I'm that kind of guy who likes to keep things consistent and so I really only buy from Australian stores. So hearing that getting these games for $74 is pretty darn cheap for new releases and that includes the shipping (I live on the Gold Coast, QLD).

So when I get the opportunity, I'll contact you in future to perhaps buy some games off you. I may end up never buying any off you but for now you definitely have my interest and we shall see.

Ahh well my pricing is rather fixed at the moment. It's actually got to do with the early batches of stock that the shop gets rather than the dropping prices that they have on sale over time. So hence I say that this deal is definitely better used for new releases.

Cool that you collect games, especially the special editions. The month of June does have quite a few releases. Any of them that you might get in the regular edition?

I see and I'm totally good with that.

With June I wont be getting any collector's edition since I'm eyeing on only inFamous 2 and as you'd know, the hero edition of inFamous 2 in Aus is $188...

In fact overall I'm kinda saving up for November especially. August I have Deus Ex HR in mind, September I'll get Resistance 3 (hopefully collector's edition) and in October I'll get Batman Arkham City Collector's Edition (Will do) and November is just crazy.

Ucharted 3: Drake's Deception, Battlefield 3, Assassin's Creed Revelations, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, MGS HD Collection.

With the exception of the MGS HD Collection, I'll definitely get the Special Editions of the ones I mentioned since I love those franchises and I have been getting their collectors edition from previous games.

But yeah right now I'm thinking of perhaps ordering Crysis 2, Portal 2 and either Killzone 3 or inFamous 2 (depending on which game I won from VGC) so we shall see ;)
