Hackers continue to attack Sony, start stealing money

As Sony continues to rebuild the PlayStation Network and its related services, there comes grim news from Japan which indicates that this whole situation is far from over. Hackers recently cracked into the Sony-run Internet service provider So-Net, making off with a bunch of virtual currency.

According to reports, roughly 100,000 yen (or $1,224)'s worth of "Virtual Points" were thieves from around 128 customers. It would appear that no personal information was compromised, nor were any other accounts.

"At this point in our investigations, we have not confirmed any data leakage," said Sony. "We have not found any sign of a possibility that a third party has obtained members' names, address, birth dates and phone numbers."

Sony appears to have become the favorite target of hackers, and this latest attack shows that they're not done with the company yet. With that in mind, I think I'll be sticking with pre-paid cards for all my PlayStation Store purchases from now on, just to be safe.
