Resident Evil UC will be too hard for the older generation. It might actually even turn them off of buying games but you never know. Brain Age or something more casual would of been better.

My grandparents cannot get the hang of Wii bowling... having to press that one button is mighty confusing.
maybe I should have got them playing something more complex... or maybe it is just my grandparents (probable because my great aunt came over this Christmas, she had had about 1 hours experience with bowling the day before (her grandson got a Wii for Christmas) and was much better than her brother and sister in law despute them having much more time with it)

yeah id love mygrandad playing resident evil
N64 is the ONLY console of the fifth generation!
bet with *no one yet* that the combined first week of Monster Hunter 3 in america and europe will be 600k or more! winner changes looser sig and avatar for two months!
@Astrodust: Have you played UC on easy? It really is quite simple. I love the game don't get me wrong but it isn't even remotely hard on easy. Now RE:4 I can see that game being a problem because it is difficult to move Leon around with the analog.
Bottom line: Point and shoot games are always easier than other adventure titles because all you do is move your cursor.

They won't buy hardcore games though...
No more TP :(
Top 3 favorite games: Super Mario Galaxy, The Sims 2 (PC), The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Togepi, it's a cycle. First everyone will play only simple games. Then they will start to be bolder and want stuff more complex. Today you have like 20 Million heavy gamers in a 550 million universe of gamers. In 10 years from now, with nintendo opening that number up and sony and others following, you might have a universe of 2billion players, which could result in 80, to 100 million heavy gamers. It will be even more profitable to make a TP. No evil ever comes from enlarging a market, only perilous and confuse times for some of the products. In the end, everybody wins. Japan is going through a convolution, but in 5 or 6 years they will have again enough heavy gamers to have a game like SMG sell 2 million on first day sales. Give it time. In the end, everybody wins.
@MCdoomer
If you think about it that's exactly how everyone young or old started out in video games. I couldn't count how many games i bought that were absolute garbage before I realized what a good game was. I don't expect the older generation to be any different in that regard and can see them wading through garbage just as I did before finding the good games. I see the same thing happening with the casual market as well.

In my opinion the entire casual gaming thing has always had massive ups and downs. Still I like seeing more people aware that games aren't just for 10 year olds.
the down: shovelware like no other, imagining wii bridge
the up: despite increases in bad games there is also an increase in good games
@ Leo "If only the wii could make its way into everyday school activities :D" WiiFit could.
@ Mummelmann "At funerals. The Wiimote could be used to shovel virtual dirt and draw crosses!" Damn, who leaked about Trauma Center: New Blood 2, when the operation goes awry!!!
@ terran77 "the down: shovelware like no other, imagining wii bridge" For bridge players who can't find others to play with (needing 1, 2 or 3 more to 'fill' the table) it would be ideal. Especially to have the card 'slap' down hard when you make the contract, double, redouble!!
And while there are going to be a LOT of bad games on the Wii, don't confuse bad games with 'games that I don't like to play' games. Even if only bought by enough to make it profitable, that means some people liked it, even if you didn't.
Torturing the numbers. Hear them scream.
