i don't see any names in that article ... sounds like anonymous to me.  i mean c'mon, operation payback?!?

well now, you seem pretty anonymous to me too kitler53 unless that's your real name.

Operation Payback was Anonymous's DDoS/Dox attack on Sony and its employees. Phantom coincided their credit card grab with it.

let's just say this.  i have no clue who phaotom is.  honestly, a year ago i didn't know who anonymous was either.  and as far as m30wca7As7r0ph3 goes, forget about.  i don't actually care either.  i (and frankly a vast majority of the population) only understand 1 word ... hacker.  this really doesn't change my outlook in any way as it is roughtly the equivant of saying al qaeda didn't do it, it was hamas.

but hey, i'm glad you feel better about yourself.  i still hate anon for the record.

Well, I hope you never use a NO CD crack, jailbreak your Iphone or android, WP7.  Never download any movies, TV shows, music that you did not purchase.  Using anything that allowed you to use a device, OS that was not originally intended.  I see people make statements like yours everyday only to find out they are using the gifts the hackers have provided them.

NO CD crack - Nope

jailbreak your Iphone or android, WP7. - Nope

download any movies, TV shows, music that you did not purchase. - illegal, immoral, and nope.

Using anything that allowed you to use a device, OS that was not originally intended - nope.

i'm a better person than that, i follow rules simply because it is the right thing to do not just due to fear of consequence.

this can't be true...

This information was in the transcript the Trend security posted on Twitter so I think it is or at least it was discussed in the IRC chat logs before the shutdown.

It was good enough for many when someone claimed "Anonymous" did it, this should be even better since they're actually giving names... well nicknames, but still.

what give credence to anon saying anon did it is that just before psn was shut down anon said the biggest attack of all is coming up... and this was after several attempts to bring the network down

Might want to climb off that high horse for a moment there... half the stuff on that list can be used for entirely legal and "moral" purposes, such as rooting a tablet because it's DRMed up the ass for no good reason (something I started work on yesterday). I just want the thing to run free apps from the Market and somehow, you're making it out to sound like some horriffic, immoral thing.

Illegal is illegal. Legal is legal. I'm not stealing anything just because I root or jailbreak it. There are dozens of reasons to want root access to a device that do not revolve around stealing things from other people.

ok so if I'm not mistaken

Mugen in English can mean = Phantom

so I did this!

What exactly does this mean:

The credit card concerns were all because the data was never encrypted when sent

Does it refer to the credit card data or what?  Sony specifically said the credit card data was encrypted.

Well, it is the idea of using things as they were not originally intended, that leads to innovations and breakthroughs, and new technology.  LittleBigPlanet was taken places not intended, because of this.  Post-It notes came about as a result of a failed glue being repositioned.  Over and over again history is filled with this.  The issue is WHY you are doing it, and to what end.  Not understanding this will mean not understanding why people do hacking.  It isn't just to get free IP, it is to come up with new stuff.  Well, unless you want to merely be a corporate lackey that consumes whatever they belch out from the bowels of product development.  As a person who does game design, I reposition products all the time.

Anyhow, I think a greater question is: to what end is this repositioning being done?  I believe that is a more mature view of things, than the one of being a good trooper that merely follows marching orders and don't look at things differently.  Conformity isn't always the right answer.
