There may have been a good reason for that wide beta test Microsoft ran to test out its new disc format for the Xbox 360. While it will allow for an extra 1GB of storage space for new games and (it hopes) stop piracy, apparently some consoles contain drives that cannot read the new XGD3 discs.  LINK

If this is true then that's incredible. Looks like MS has actually learned from RROD, don't need any bad press regarding this issue. 

So did this happen to you Legend? If so what console were you using and how did you know you had an issue. Break it down for us.

Glad to see ms step up to the plate and get things done. Looks like they have learned their lesson from the RROD. Good for them.

Nope not me. I just read in on Engadget thought it was an interesting read (I'll put link in the op). Good move them doing a long beta too make sure nothing like this happened and if it did they would be prepared to make a solution.

LOL, hell no, why do think I want to know the details? I have 2 boxes that haven't seen any use lately and they are both old fats so I REALLY want this to happen to mine.

This is incredible, Im kinda pissed I just replaced my xbox lol, shoulda waited...  ha naw but the year of xbox live is nice too mine is about to expire in a week, damn.
