Forums - Gaming - Rune Factory: Oceans gets a NA release and new name

""Better still, this entry is coming to both the Wii and PlayStation 3,” said Hiro Maekawa, President and CEO of Natsume."

Favorite part of this story.

I heard the Farming aspect of this game has been seriously cut down to be really simple. Its focus seems to be on the story and combat. I'll get the PS3 version. I just can't resist Rune factory.

Probably a late 2012 release for Europe, judging by Frontier's release dates.

I gave my sister a copy of Rune Factory: Frontier for her birthday last year, expecting that one day she'd be done with it and allow me to borrow it and try it out.

It's been almost a year now, she's still playing it, and I may never, ever be permitted to borrow it.

So, I think I'll buy RF: Oceans and not tell my sister the game even exists until I'm ready to part with it.

Can anyone who's played Frontier on Wii explain to me what is so amazing about these games?

I honestly want to get hyped, especially since there are so few JRPGs on Wii... but the whole "farming simulation" thing doesn't sound too exciting..

(haven't played any Harvest Moon games either)

Frontier on the Wii was pretty addictive for me, and I'd never played any Harvest Moon or stuff like farmville before. Don't think I could though, I liked the combat and the overall battle/weapons aspect. I also liked the character design since it wasn't all chibi figures with huge heads.

Well, will be hard for you to get hyped by just looking at it (I'm not actually hyped about it myself, just going to get it an enjoy it at some point). Frontier wasn't spectacular, just sort of charming and able to make you enjoy some relaxed grinding.

And yeah, the runey management was a pain. A slight pain to get it the basics, but above all an annoyance to keep it in check. Hopefully they've fixed it.

Been waiting for this one.  Now to decide which platform...

"Why does everyone ask about Chrono Trigger? (responding to a comment about the title being loved) That's not what the sales tell me! If people want a sequel, they should buy more!" - Square Enix Senior Vice President Shinji Hashimoto

Battles work best as a framework to support the farming.

I hope this talk of farming being cut back isn't true.
