Hey guys/Girls, Long story short ive obtained a PC a few months was told the power supply was shot, as when you turned the PC on fans powered on along with any lights, disc tray opens/closes but would not bootand said no display on the screen tried it numerous times and it seemed to be the case so boxed it away, anyway i was tinkering about a bit, changed one of the RAM cards hearing sometimes they could be the cause of the fault anyway(so it was only running on a 256mb stick) and it booted loaded up and i was removing some of the crap it froze on me, any idea whats wrong with it?

You said you got it up and running? Hmmm It could be the HDD, but im not 100% sure.  Did you try doing a fresh OS install?

ok I have a few spare HDD nocking around, can i use any? sorry im not great with computers, as you can tell :)

i recomend you buy an new PC or laptop and not worry about fixing the problems, You will most likley need an new HDD, maybe some more RAM because your OS cannot handled it with the possible programs you are running.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

sounds to me like both ram sticks are bad. or the motherboard is going bad. How old of a PC is it?

No, certainly it could not. Good grief...why do you answer a question when you have no clue?

Your PC boots through your BIOS. It looks for a HD on the IDE channel(s). If there is none (in most cases nowadays, there is none there because it is a SATA drive). the monitor will say "No HD found" on the boot screen. Since you can't see the message but see a "No signal", your Video circuitry is bad. Either the cable or the graphics card is bad.
