loving the series so far.My only gripe is the absence of the wolfs, especially ghost. I dont think they have even mentioned the name yet. They probably wont show the wolfs much before they have fully grown as cgi is expensive and they cant use wolf looking dogs anymore:P

I've heard the breed/mix they chose for the wolves is very hard to train. In an interview Sean Bean said it took 3 hours to shoot Lady's "execution" scene and she was barely in it.

It was great seeing Ghost in Ep 4 just now. Those red eyes are fantastic. I think until they go CGI the wolves will get little screen time, and then as you say CGI is expensive so we'll probably only see them when necessary. A pity but there you have it.

The Dany story arc really took a step forward in Ep4. It seemed to be floundering a wee bit but I'm pleased with what they did. Really got that rift going between Dany and Viserys, and opened her eyes to who.what Viserys really is.

Is a pity Lolita was put off by the Dany rapes in Ep1 and 2, because Dany grows so much as a character through the series, moreso than any other.

Really loving Arya. Sansa is doing fine too, it's just that she's such an unsympathetic character.

They showed more dimensions to Jon in Ep4 over and above his basic emo nature (which as a bastard hated by your "father's" wife is totally understandable). Great sparring scenes at the Wall too. The one incongruity of Ep. 4 was Dany being a little put off by Mormont having sold some poachers into slavery when the Dothraki culture is a slave owning (and abusing) culture, and she seems to be getting on rather swimmingly with Drogo now that she's on top of the night time activities, and preggers.

I agree that a lot of the added scenes do fit in well. The adaptation to screen has been well done so far.

well they cant really cut the wolfs out can they:p they are a very important part of the books. Looking at lame shows like merlin i am a bit scared of how awful the cgi will look like. The budget is bigger for game of thrones though:p hopefully they will make them look a bit realistic:p I think thats why they rushed trough to the death of sansas wolf and the escape of aryas. Thats two wolfs they dont have to animate(well at least in season 1)

In terms of the pacing of the show Lady's death and Nymeria's escape happen at the right time, so not rushed. It just seems rushed because the TV show skips a lot of what's in the book. Yet it remains pretty coherent, which is good.

The big problem with CGI wolves is getting the hair right, esp in windy scenes. But if they can use the SW Peter Jackson used for King Kong that would be great. If they mo-cap a real (normal sized) dog doing what the direwolves do, then insert the CGI'd direwolf into the scene that would be great.

Mixed feelings vs the book or just as a TV series?

There's a lot missing from the book and some odd changes/additions but it's a very faithful adaptation for all that, I think.

Not available on Netflix. Fail

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

watched some 7 or 8 episodes few days ago, it was okay, not really great, probably because I never read the book so can't immerse into the world. oh well, can anyone tell me if there will ever be dragons?

Finish watching the season and your question will be answered.
