Its election day! Get out and vote if you have not already!

and then we can discuss the results later if anyone wants to!  or if they have any opinions on how the election has been so far!  or any rants about the parties like how jack layton is a serious cokehead and thats why he is so sickly looking and sniffs all the time!

If I was not too apathetic to vote I would vote NPD. I don't think they would lead the country well, but at least in the short run they would make life a lil easier for us students.

just voted

just got back from voting!  running in this area we have the green, liberals, NDP, conservatives, CHP(christian heritage party) and the libertarian party(who had no signs and i didnt even know were running)

i hope the NDP becomes the official opposition and then the liberals realize they have been retarded and move back towards the center.   the jump to the left has made them too left for the Centrists and not left enough for the Left.  they need to move back to the center.

if the conservatives dont win a majority i would like to see a coalition between the conservatives and a sane center-left Liberal party.  unlikely, but i can hope.

Can a Canadian give us a run down of the major parties, and what their positions are?

I know the conservatives are right wing, and the NDP is extreme left, but not to certain on where all they stand in relation to any actual issues.

i was typing something but it disappeared on me  :(.   so i have another idea.  if you go to the CBCs vote compass  you should be able to see the results without entering information.

steps:

randomly choose a province then click "start"

click the heading "result"

click "refine your position" in the yellow part

then click "party position per question"

there are a list of topics in the drop down bar with three questions in each topic.  choose a topic and question and it will show you icons showing party positions to each question.

it sounds complicated, but really isnt...and it can give a good general idea about the parties (Green, NDP, Liberal, Conservatives and the Bloc(dirty quebec seperatists)[all Left except conservatives]

i also have this link which leads to a thing about how the party positions were chose for each question of the vote compass

this method involves less clicking but more reading.

It's not a requirement that someone speaks english or french to come to Canada?  That seems... dumb.

I mean, how are police and emergency workers supposed to talk to their constituants.

Kinda shocking that the NDP is more left than the Greens. Ha!
