Forums - Microsoft - MS building a new first party studio in Vancouver

MGS Vancouver is building a world-class development team in Vancouver, BC, Canada, dedicated to making games for "core" gamers. Our mission is to push the limits of proven and unexplored game development and show the world what's possible on Microsoft's game consoles. And yes, we're also an awesome place to work!

lol after a 100 timed exclusives they finally realise first party studios are a more cost efficient and a better way to bring exclusives to xbox.

SCE please fix PSN faster

PS fans just keep annoying everywhere

Vancouver Film School produces some of the best 3D Artists, I wish I could have gone there.  There should be plenty of local talent.

720 dev kits out confirmed?

So that's two first party studios now in Vancouver? This new team and Big Park, hopefully we get some good games out of it

Great news...I guess this E3 is too early to see even a teaser for a game from them right? But at least by next E3. Good move MS

show the world what's possible on Microsoft's game consoles

> consoles

> s

This refers to at least 2 of the following

Xbox

Xbox 360

Xbox 720

Xbox portable

Windows

Windows Phones

I think we can rule the Xbox out, and the 360 is almost guarenteed to be one of the consoles they are working on.

The use of 'consoles' as opposed to platforms, suggests it is unlikely to be W7P, GFWL, or even the Xbox portable.

As I said, Xbox 720 development kits are in the hands of 1st party studios, and most likely in the hands of 3rd parties too. That means the launch will be Nov 2012 - May 2013 most likely, but could be as late as Nov 2013.

From what they are saying, it sounds like they might be aiming to be part of the 2nd or 3rd big wave of games for the 720, as opposed to aiming for launch. Should be interesting.

i think you are reading waaaayy to much into that "s".  a next gen console from MS is pretty much a given but to go from an "s" on this sentence to "nov 2012 launch" is quite a big leap.

OT - good for MS.  more games is always a good thing.

I wonder what games the will be bringing to the table. Next E3 is already looking good if they show anything.
