Forums - Sony - Has Sony notified you about your compromised info yet?

I don't know about you guys, but I got an email from the Playstation Network on April27 to notify me of the incident. The email was pretty much the same thing what they said in their blogs, so it wasn't any new information. But at least I got something from them. I am surprised that some of you have not received anything yet.

Around the Network

yeah I also got a message, yesterday, or two days ago, dunno.

Anyway I never entered my card info, always bought PSN-cards cuz they cost less? :P

and about the people with the passwords for cc and stuff...

Do you really use a normal password for your cc info? and the same with your onlineacc?

wow cant believe that, I have a special-authorisation-thingy wich generates random passwords I have to give in everytime.

This is pretty big, hope they get the thiefs

I want my psn back :) :)

I got my email yesterday - just two hours after some online shop sent me an email notifying me that some hacker had broken into their systems and stolen all the customer information too... :(

i just got a notice from Sony yesterday, that was 4/28   it happened 9 days before i was "notified"   everything is safe and changed but damn sony good thing i was paying attention to other sources.

Nope. Haven't heard a peep from them; but I dealt with my bank the moment I heard about the hack, so I'm not worried.

Around the Network

I received my email yesterday.  Right after complainging about not getting notified on these boards amusingly.

I like to think that explains sone of the Sony defense on the hack around here.  Espiecally the "Sony might be lying and saying it's worse then it is!" guy.

No, they still  haven't sent me anything. I also had to read about it from third parties. I'm really pissed off about that (and my CC number possible being stolen).

I started making videos for youtube; check them out.

Q: Was my personal data encrypted?
A: All of the data was protected, and access was restricted both physically and through the perimeter and security of the network. The entire credit card table was encrypted and we have no evidence that credit card data was taken. The personal data table, which is a separate data set, was not encrypted, but was, of course, behind a very sophisticated security system that was breached in a malicious attack.

Q: Was my credit card data taken?
A: While all credit card information stored in our systems is encrypted and there is no evidence at this time that credit card data was taken, we cannot rule out the possibility. If you have provided your credit card data through PlayStation Network or Qriocity, out of an abundance of caution we are advising you that your credit card number (excluding security code) and expiration date may have been obtained. Keep in mind, however that your credit card security code (sometimes called a CVC or CSC number) has not been obtained because we never requested it from anyone who has joined the PlayStation Network or Qriocity, and is therefore not stored anywhere in our system.

Bold is reasuring but underline is scary so it's a draw :)

from this thread: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=127915&page=1

I've been thinking this since yesterday. but i think Sony in the last few days have formulated a plan.

why have Sony waited over a week to notify customers: because no cc data was actully taken?? i dont think any cc data was taken, i'm not convinced the hackers were even after the cc information...

so in this time we've had a media nightmare. but during this time the credit card companies have been put on high alert and customers have been fearful of their cc data being compremised. the media panic has most likely put the fear of god into the hackers.

and i think Sony will now abuse this incident to up their war on hackers. everytime they talk about hackers, they will remind governments, and the public that their cc detials were at risk. i think this is why Sony have waited a week to notify customers about the hack - because nothing illegal had actully been commited, which is why i think they didnt say anything straight away.

all we know was that the PSN was hacked, like Xbox Live in 2007, or iPhone, Android, Windows, etc. there was a concern about cc data, but i think Sony knew after a few days that cc information had not been taken - so they decided to create a situation were they will now be excused for aggressively targeting anyone who hacks their systems.

I think the last thing they should be doing is constantly reminding everyone how their data was compromised on PSN.

Anyone can guess. It takes no effort to throw out lots of predictions and have some of them be correct. You are not and wiser or better for having your guesses be right. Even a blind man can hit the bullseye.

The email was finally sent to me at 2 AM today, April 29th.

@A203D, conspiracy theories are always fun, but without proof, it's pretty pointless.
