Forums - Sony - I wonder what failoverflow and Geohotz think about all of this

I have no idea what they think. But IF I were them, I'd be pretty happy right now and laughing my ass off.

I mean, I'm just a regular gamer and I'm getting one hell of a laugh watching Sony scramble. This is the kind of shit they should have anticipated when they took out a feature like linux from their console. They are nothing but a pathetic billion dollar organization trying to pinch every penny.

So yeh, as far as I'm concerned, fuck Sony. Maybe they will learn their goddamn lesson for once.

Whoa...

If I recall your posting history you were pro-Sony before weren't you?

haha I still am. I like all three companies but Sony is deffinitley my favorite.

But at the same time I can't look past stupidity like this. If you check my post history, you will see that I was against the removal of Linux from day 1. I mean, it is the first time I remember having a feature in my console and being forced to remove it. And Sony has a habit of doing stupid shit like this.

PS3 was virtually untouched for four years - partially becuase it was hard to crack and partially cause no one cared enough to hack it (since they already had linux). By removing linux, Sony shot themselves in the foot and now they are paying the price. Six days of PSN being down is seriousley pathetic.

They are probably too busy praying to Satan while burning down orphanges to care

Sig thanks to Saber! :D

I see...fair enough.

"And Sony has a habit of doing stupid shit like this." - I hear that.

I mean, suing Bleemcast makers for releasing a superior Ps1 to Dreamcast emulator...After Sega announced they are pulling out of hardware??? That's just being an asshole in my books...

Karma.

I play PC and PS3. The best of both worlds.

I'm sure Geohotz at the very least is loveing this.  After all the crap Sony put him through and taking him to court its almost like "sweet revenge" for him.

Sony just simply shouldn't have taken out Linex and taken Geo to court.  I was against both from the start and now they've simply pissed off an entire community and are reaping what they sowed.  My thing is who's to say this won't happen again?  Even once they fix PSN these guys might continue to attack it.

All I know is I want my damn service back and they better not screw me out of this time being a PSN Plus member.  Its a service I pay for and can't even use.

Did they have any friends or family that enjoyed playing PSN games?  If so, I imagine they feel pretty bad right now.

My kid turned 10 years old on April 20th.  She's pretty humble.  I'd have gotten her anything in the world for her birthday but all she wanted was for me to download some bonus characters in the PSN title "PAIN".  I told her I would.  She's still logging into the PSN everyday trying to get that DLC.  Did she deserve to get caught up in this bullshit between Sony and some hackers?  We bought our console, abided by the rules, and never had a problem with the user licensing agreements.  I just can't see things from a hacker point of view.  Where do they get this sense of entitlement?

And another thing:  What have they accomplished?  Did they bring Sony to their knees?  Did they get their precious custom firmware programs back?  Is the PSN/PS3 still their playground?  What was their goal?  In the end, all the did was inconvenience themselves, Sony, and millions of innocent people.  NOBODY can play on the PSN, now.  Not until Sony is confident that whatever damage was done is a thing of the past.  The whole thing is just a pointless and frustrating affair--and I don't even play PSN games that often.

I can only imagine what avid PSN users are going through.......which reminds me:  I need to call my fiance's nephew and laugh at him.  He's an addict of DCU Online.

I bet they love it, and I can't blame them.

Wonder how things would have turned out for sony if they did not remove the Other OS, or sue Geohotz. Anyone got a time machine?

Yeah hold on I'll see,

Hackers used other OS to hack psn and play pirated games, online was overrun with hackers and piracy became as widespread as on the other consoles

umm... no, doubtful that would be how it would have ended. Even the R4 chip for the 3/DS didn;t lead to wide spread piracy, just homebrew.

that's a good question but frankly you are talking about the same crowd will fight tooth and nail to tell you piracy isn't theft and that piracy actually helps the industry.   i think it is as much a selfish lack of respect for any interest but their own as much as it is a sense of entitlement.
