also, galaki how much of this is insurance paying for if you know? If taxpayers have already payed the insurance, then he should get what the insurance pays for...

But, if the prison insurance is too good then it should be changed. And taxes will most likely not be cut because are going into deficit oblivion.

Government is paying. Government money = tax money = your money.

what a joke. All i can say. What a joke.

not really, even a man convicted of such a crime does not deserve to die a death like he is expected to. Being humane isn't about agreeing with that is being done is right, rather doing what is right. I agree this man needs/deserves to die, but he also deserves to be treated since he detained is in our prison system's care. It is all a matter of prospective, and the fact the death penalty is illegal in most states now.

being humane (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/humane) has nothing to do with this. Spending that kind of money on a rapist instead of helping the community is a joke. It is this kind of thinking that is degrading american society and sends the message their is no wrong that is to great to commit. How is society going to move forward when we reward rapists like this? He is getting above and beyond help that most non criminals would not be able to afford. I stand by what i said, its a joke.

While this link is for prisoners/detainees of war. Our prison system follows these guidelines typicallys. And really our hands are tied thanks to international regulation on treatment of prisoners.

Best way to solve this, reinstate the death penalty.

Dont have time to read the link sorry and thank you for the info. My point is more that he is getting better care than some non criminal citezens would get. That does not make sense. I agree he should be treated humanely, and to me that would be insuring he had a proper place to waste away in and all the meds he would need. He shouldn't suffer in pain by no means, but neither should he get treatment that normal american would not be able to get.

Edit: In hind sight I would compare it more to what ever kind of medical care we would give our servicemen. Would they get this kind of treatment? If he does I hope they would.

I dont know in the US but here in Australia it costs 1000 AUD (1001 USD) an week for every imate to house them in prison. Prisoners get more care, fred and housed then homeless poor people on the street. The Homeless are worst off and are better off commiting an crime.

Why dont we all just Have one island in the middle of no where and if you commit and terrible crime you are sent to the island, off they get and you turn around and dont care anymore. If thats not so well then at least put them on Slave labour and have them working in Prison made sweetshops making i dont know blankets for the poor and homeless.

well now, prisons in the US are slowly becoming privatized. This means the prisons are no longer owned by the USA, rather companies. This allows the prisoners to be put to work and earn their keep.

Well, they are just giving people an incentive to commit crime to raise the prisons profit.

thats interesting, i guess this may have an positive effect by allowing companies an altertaive to offshore Chinese maufacturing and shipping when they can have slave labour running in prisions and sell direct to the public, undercutting what ever coming out of china.

Damn hard topic I'd say.

On the one hand, raping children is the most cruel and disturbing crime anyone can do. Fuck this sucker.

On the other hand, studies have proven that such tendencies are either born traits or developed during the childhood and can NEVER be healed. They can only be treated, but never completely removed. I don't want to protect such disgusting behavior, but maybe he was simply not able to control his own emotions.  I heard teaching strong pedophiles to stop loving underage humans is like forcing gay people to stop loving the same gender.

Damn hard topic.

I think the reason prisoners are not put to work was because they take jobs that non criminals can do. I am not sure but I believe this started in the depression and has nothing to do with privatisation.

i cant see him ever making it to the top of the list for a transplant.  just based on health factors, let alone hes a danger to society.

Is the goal now to have a nice race to the bottom where more and more people get irate at what others have, because themselves lack it?  There is ire at government employees getting pensions when others don't have them.  And now, there is ire that people in prisons get health coverage masses of people are increasingly doing without.  Again, is the goal here to have a nice race to the bottom where the idea is to reduce everyone to the same level of misery, with a few elites on the top nearly owning everything, and having excess upon excess?  Is that the goal, and you say it is all part of "freedom" and you don't want to punish success?
