It is one thing to end up enjoying and having a passion for something.  It is another to make oneself a partisan who shills and spins in favor of a given console, and engage in a war for the minds of people.  Stuff like, "Playstation is a religion" and also the "B_E_L_I_E_V_E" sig people were running awhile ago.

Shill and do stuff like this.  They look a lot like this, but don't get paid (Sony hired an ad company to do this):

Just a reminder here.  Being an partisan for a game console of your choice, and posting on forums like this is an unpaid job.  Corporations who make the console your choice do not pay you if you shill their products and games shamelessly.  They also don't compensate you if you go forth and post false information that would benefit your console.  If you were to side with Sony against Anonymous, and post something clearly in error about Anonymous, no one is going to pay you for this.  If you even win people over to your console of choice through your words, you don't get compensated.  If you inprove the bottom line of the corporation that makes the console of your choice, you don't get paid for it.

In short, operating as a marketing stooge for a company of your choices is unpaid work, isn't something that can be listed on your resume, and in the end won't matter if your company of choice ends up leaving the videogame industry completely aqnd stop making a console.  Sega and Atari fans can testify to this fact.

What's worse is you can't even call them out for what they are, or report it.

Please, you can call out the fanboys, yu can call out the trolls, you just can't insult them. I don't know what's more annoying the people who call people haters because posters disagree with them or the the people who thik they are so different.

Fanboy/Troll = insult, and debating with them most of the time is just a waste of time.

Oh I get it, you're trying to lump me in with that crowd. That's funny because as much as I'm an Xbox/MS fan I think I'm pretty damn reasonable, more so than you actually.

I'm actually proud I'm one of the few xbox fans here that can say MS are doing a really shit job right now. Hey at least I don't have an orgasm when they ship more than I thought they would.

You let Rol get to you, huh. No, I think all of us have fanboyish behaviors, some more , some less. I am not ashamed of it. 

It's not our jobs to be calling people trolls or fanboys. You are here to debate, have a conversation, if you disagree with someone, state it, prove them wrong. I have felt lately, a lot of fans have been calling others ( fanboys, trolls) because they felt they were being negative about the console they love.

I don't think everyone has a bit of fanboy in them, but then I guess 'fanboy' can mean many things. To me it's someone that loves a company and intensly dislikes the competition. To others it's someone who's besotted with a company, no more no less.

With that in mind, like I said before, the fanboys I'm talking about, there is no point in debating because they'll always be right and their company of choice will always be the one that comes out on top.

Going back to my original point, those types of fanboys are no good for this site. Obsessive fans ... sometimes annoying (me and you included sometimes I imagin) but those rabbid types, yeah I think we should be able to call them out for what they are. They add nothing but a mess to the discussion.
