Forums - Gaming - (Rumor)EA teasing subscription service

Seems like they need more money.

It was only a few weeks ago that EA Sports president Peter Moore talked of a persistent social profile that would transfer from game to game. Now the manner in which that may be carried out is becoming clearer. Thanks to several people who took the time to forward over the included document, the plan of a subscription service that EA Sports is investigating has gone out in the open.

Seems to be the logical thing to do for them.

When your game quality starts to dip, its only right to nickel and dime with whatever's left that you are doin right.......

Now that's not fair. EA Sports games have always been quite mediocre.

I mean, they could just bundle their super mediocre games with their premier mediocre sports games, but no self-respecting company would bundle what they can sell separately for profit.

They should be stripped of their NFL license.

Maybe then we would get some decent football games out of the industry.

I could see the logic here if they sell their games at lower than normal prices. If they want to sell them at normal price, it would be a disaster.

wow, with the insanity of fifa they could make some money. thank god i stopped buying fifa games!

Being in 3rd place never felt so good

EA should lose their NFL license or at least allow others to make NFL games (2k sports).  They have a monopoly on the market which is complete bullshit.  We used to break monopolies up back in the early 1900s but now most of the general public accepts them...  Shows you how little most people care.  2K has made better sports games than EA for a very long time.  EA can go fuck itself.  My boycott is going strong after 14 plus years.

There has been some antitrust noise generated against either the NFL, the NFL Players' Association, or both, just nothing substantial has come of it yet

That would be nice if other companies could develop NFL games.  However, with the situation NFL finds itself in now the next Madden might be called Madden 12: Lockout which you assume the role of the owner and beat the crap out of players that try and go into your stadium.

My understanding is that the NFL Players' Association are the ones that made the deal with EA.  Thus a company could make a NFL game but can't use NFL players name.  Is that correct or was the deal directly through the NFL?
