Forums - Gaming - "PS3 Domination" the coined phrase

Even though I have a PS3, if it has to come down to changing the definition of words to pass it off as successful, then I think it's a lost cause.

GC owners cried for joy when the GC began selling like crazy due to the price drop to $99 and yet they were wrong to do so. Why would PS3 owners be any different?

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks

Domination for the Wii will be easy to see.

It will be when the first (by definition) 3rd party game, that is made for the Wii, is then ported to the PS3 and X360.

If you're willing to count a 360-only port of a Wii game, then that happened back when Rayman: Raving Rabbids got a 360 release.  Which was a month or two after the Wii launch, if memory serves.

lolz, like that will ever happen.

What's realitically going to happen is that the game will be made on the PS3 and then ported to the 360 or vice versa while another team makes the Wii/PS2/PSP version. There is just no point making a PS3/360 and then porting to the wii or having a wii game ported to the 360/PS3 cuzs the end result would be attrocious but if 2 dev teams work on the 2 games then at least something decent will come out of it.

Wii outsells PS3+360 in 2007 = domination

Sky Render,

Just to push your memory a bit more.  Do you recall if it was a port or a separate developed game, like Destroyer says?  I know that 3rd parties have done separate developement, but it would be amusing if my 'definition' of domination by the Wii had already occurred.

Even if the RRR was developed separately, if it was faster to develope and release it on the Wii (as it should be) than on the PS3 or X360, while it won't be ports, it will be 'timed exclusives'.

One thing is pretty clear, Nintendo saved the industry once again, its clear, take Nintendo out of the equation and Revenue would be down massively, Profits would be nearly non existant and hardware sales would be dismal, that my friends is true domination

Sorry fella but thats a huge misnomer.

If the wii hadnt happened, bless its little cotton socks, then the forces on the market would not be as they are now. I agree that nintendo are dominating at the moment with out the all concering wii the other consoles would be getting far greater sales, buyer enthusiasm, press coverage or even whatever than they are.

Regards

p.s. Nintendo hasnt saved the industry, its just the latest to make a huge profit from it.

p.p.s. good on them though

You're right console prices wouldn't have been cut as fast to try and catch up to the Wii and sales of the PS3 and 360 would be lower then they are now, and software sales would be lower as well.

So yeah, still saving, not only by kepping sales high but also by forcing prices down
