Oh really? Were you also one of those idiots who jumped on the "Geohot has fled the country" bandwagon when the news came out? Keep in mind that 1. He has close ties to the EFF, so he's probably donated to them before, and 2. He wasn't bankrupt. He still managed to spend spring break in South America. If people are willing to support his fight against corporate tyranny, more power to him.

No I never did comment on this. Between, im all for people giving him money, its their thing,  im just saying that since he needed donation to support his case he probably doesnt have money to top anything.

He had money to go to South America for spring break. Do you think he didn't have enough to top it up to a round number? He even stated it on his blog.

Where did I not gave credit where credit is due? Im glad that he gave something back, some would have kept it all. Dont mix everyone all together, its not because someone else said Geohot is shit that I also think that. Personally, I dont think allowing people to distribute hacks on the internet is right but at the same time I dont think forcing people to remove one of their original feature (Linux) to play new games is either. I totally support the case against the removal of "other OS".

Geohot didn't take on Sony.  Sony sued Geohot.  Geohot gave into Sony's demands so Geohot had legal funds left over.  It's that simple.  What comic book were you reading?

He took on Sony by releasing information on the hack despite their threats.  What demands did he give into exactly?  He didn't admit doing anything wrong and it was never proven that he commited a crime.  You really think Sony got what they wanted by getting Geohot to promise to "pretty please, don't do it again".  And he was certainly under no obligation to give any of the money to anyone, so how is it "that" simple?

The best way to see will be to check whose opinions change once the Microsoft and Apple Lawsuits start hitting mainstream attention.

They have less coverage at the moment due to it being corp vs corp... but many the aftereffects of those...

will be scary.  It's messed up how twisted IP laws have gotten to the point of where they can be used to try and maintain monopolies.

I was forejudging sure, I dont know him personally, maybe hes very trustable, but it doesnt have anything to do with giving credit where credit is due. I give credit to the fact he gave 10 K back, beside that, theres nothing else to give credit for.
