Blood Bowl is what happens when you take War Hammer and American Footbal and smash them together. The game has issues. A lot of issues honestly. The current price of $10 is well worth it though. The game plays really fast a loose with the rules. The goal is to get the ball to the other end of the field anyway possible. This can, and often does include crippling your opponents team.

20 extremely weird and funny teams with their own distinctive style and lets you play your own way. Want to flip around using dramatic passes and flying down the field in a single turn? Go with the Wood Elves. Dodge and dance around everyone. Their incredibly agility and base skills means it is hard to get even close to a solid blow.

Feel like crushing your opponent into the ground as you walk inevitably into their endzone? Go with the Chaos team. Crush and beat the teams in front of you. Before the end of the first half can have a number advantage quite easily. Can't field players who might be dead.

Looking for something a bit more tricksy? Try the goblins! Weapons galore make up for the rather lackluster physical stature. And if you get stuck just have an ogre throw you into the endzone with the ball! Unless of course the ogre gets confused AND hungry...

Tired of replacing all those dead charctes? Burdened by the cost of scraping them off the field? Well just get a team that has been dead for a while now! Undead make for great players. No matter how much you beat on them they just keep coming back for more!

Bought into the recent vampire craze, but loathing the wussy Twilight ones? Well check out the Vampire team! Strong, agile, and special abilities on top of that. All it will cost you is random members of your team. Well either that or the vampire running off into the stands in order to get his fix.

This is just a sampling of the races, and the rules make it even wackier. Bribe refs to cheat, watch fans rush the field and take out the other team, or just send a hitman after your opponents star player! Anything to win right? Plus you get the fun of leveling up your own players! Of course that usually means either crippling or killing your opponents, but you'll probably end up doing that just for fun.

If enough people get on board we could even open up a private league, which is always super cool. Plus there is just the random online multiplayer to boot. Well worth $10 if you ask me, but probably not full price. Strike while the iron is hot and pick up a pretty decent game!

I am going to try to sell this game again since it really is a great game at the current price. The rules for the game are hilariously slim. It is part turn-based strategy, and very small part American Football. It uses a football, and you want to carry it into your opponents endzone. At that point the similarities end. The game has more in common with war than with a sports game. It is an amazingly faithful port of the old tabletop game brought to a PC environment.

Your goal is the elimination of your opponent really. You can "tackle" anyone as freely as you like. Hell I have spent entire turns going after everyone but the guy with the ball just to get a number advantage on the drive! By hook or by crook you can take the ball and just walk over to the goal line. Even if you somehow commit a foul (pretty rare, but there are a few ways) a quick bribe of the ref will set that all right most likely.

The entire game is dice based. When I say it is like War Hammer I really do mean it. This is the same people, and the same races just battling it out over a different setting. The leveling up is fun as you build up your teams with awesome and sometimes hilarious skills. Nothing like sprouting a second head, or getting an over-sized hand to kick up the enjoyment of the game!

There is a steep learning curve, but once you start figuring out the skills and basics the game gets to be a lot of fun. So why not give it a whirl for $10? Chances are your computer can run it too. Low system requirements means everyone can be a part of the hilarity!

Use to play the boardgame, it was awesome!
