Forums - Gaming - Good local co-operative console games

I've been playing a huge amount of co-op Earth Defense Force 2017 lately (it's just so addicting!), and I would like to hear what other local (ie. not online) co-op games people recommend.  Any system from this generation or last is open for suggestions.

I just beat EDF 100%, game takes about 60 hours, but it's always fun with a friend. Once you get the Zexr sentries and the Lysander Z it's game over. Have fun.

umbrella chronicles.

360 arcade has quite a few good co op games, heck halo 3 is fun, or resistance and stuff on ps3 i heard is fun as well.

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

At the end of our EDF binge my friend and I started a hardcore campaign in Gears of War. Always nice to revisit old games.

Gears of Wars, not the best game ever, but in the 360 you can play co op, split screen or via lan...

I have EDF, Gears of War, Halo series, Kameo, Perfect Dark Zero, The Outfit, Viva Pinata, Ghost Squad, Umbrella Chronicles, SMG, Zack & Wiki, Pikmin 2, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, Space Channel 5, The Adventures of Cookie and Cream, and We Love Katamari.

I haven't tried co-op in Kameo, PDZ, The Outfit, Viva Pinata, Zack & Wiki, Pikmin 2, or We Love Katamari. Are they any good? I heard The Outfit had a good co-op mode.

Pikmin 2 has multiplayer but not co op in the main story, is just versus and co op in some kind of challenge...

Some caves are really hard to pass with perfect score... good replay value but sometimes is just frustating how hard it is...

@ GooseGaws:

The Kameo coop isn't worth it--IMO the best parts of that game were the parts in the Badlands, but these are not playable in coop, only the puzzle areas.

Zack and Wiki only has a pointer option a la Mario Galaxy (except that p2 can't shoot enemies in Z&W, only point).

I would heartily recommend all of those other games for coop fun, though, with the exception of We Love Katamari, which I have yet to try.

I also need more co-op games. I'm visiting my twin brother in three weeks. We'll have access to my Wii and one of his friend's 360.

We plan to play Halo 3 (4-man co-op), go through Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles (I've already played it through to unlock co-op in all missions, and have played its co-op with some of my other friends, its awesome), and put the beat down on his friends in SSBM.

In the (recent) past my brother and I have played Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Tales of Symphonia, and Tales of the Abyss.

Is Ghost Squad worth getting if I already have RE:UC?

Is Geometry Wars worth getting? Or should I still stick to Ikaruga for its SHMUP perfection?

Any other recommendations? (P.S. I despise mini-game collections).
