I think of the people in the movie Reefer Madness as being hipsters.

Too true there is always a generation before a term hits public perception that can be seen to demonstrate many of the same attributes as those that happen to be at the centre when a youth culture  hits critical mass .

it happens all the time, the Jazz Age , "pretty young things" ,beatnicks, hippies , punks etc etc , young people making there own worlds

I don't consider myself a hipster at all though some of the thing I do/like aren't very mainstream (lol that word)
