Forums - General - Is cosmetic surgery the answer to bullying?

http://abcnews.go.com/Health/cosmetic-surgery-answer-bullying/story?id=13255540&page=1 ---link. This article goes into a case were a girl get's surgery on her ears, because she was bullied. Then it ask the question is cosmetic surgery really the answer to bullying? I personally don't think it is. I think the victims need to fight back and not let it get to them so much. As a kid I was bullied and taughted every day of my childhood, for having a big sized head. As a kid,I blamed myself and thought what's wrong with me. I was of course was depressed and sucidal, but as an adult,I really don't care what people think. I wish I was fought back and was more agressive when I was been bullied all the time. So,the answer to me is fight back, fight fire with fire. Tell someone. You can't just sit there and take it and let it effect you so much. One can't help the way they were born and one can only live there life the best they can with what they got. So,I don't think cosmetic surgery is ever the answer,as your just giving in to the bullying and just sitting there and taking it.

Get out of here you silly you!

No, but I would like to live in a world of beautiful people. Plastic people aren't quite the same, though.

Children need to be given balls. Parents should make it crucial that their kids realize their skills and abilities and push them to the limit. I see tons of kids who don't really do shit but play video games and whatever. Sports, music, anything helps the kid build confidence.

if someone, in a sane state of mind, chooses to modify their body in some way...whats the problem.

and just because it needs to be said...anyone tattooing their face is not sane.

Though I dont think it is a good response for people to get plastic surgery as a response to bullying, this shouldnt be used to say that plastic surgery is "bad" in any way, and I have actually seen it make people more popular. It seems to depend on where you grew up, where I lived it is very common, I have also lived in orange county (california) for a year where the prevailing attitude seemed to be the same, However in N.Z where I live now there seems to be a taboo associated with it.

Everyone should be allowed to choose whether they want it or not without it being a major drama in my opinion, all are entitled to their own choice.
