Forums - General - My computer died, anybody know what the heck went wrong?

From vague memories I had a problem that sounds pretty much the same with my last laptop, SVChost taking up almost all of the processor resources. It ended up being that the motherboard was overheating and eventually just died.

sounds like an pretty crazy virus is causing your CPU to max out on some program crashing your computer. Hopefully you have the Windows disk or go to another computer, download windows (code on your computer hopefully) and then reinstall windows.

Or it could be a number of virus' causing his motherboard to overheat.

I used to have the same problem with my first computer.  Like one part was actually melting.

I blame using shitty ass McAfee, the fact that free virus protection works so much better is crazy.

For me the motherboard overheating was from dust buildup.

Yeah, that didn't help me either.  I had that problem as well, I always forget to open up my PC and hit it with some compressed air.  Was a combo of the two I think, but once that part was semi melted i was screwed.

only problem is that there are many free anti virus protection virus that are virus's and spam your computer like crazy.

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

It sounds like registry errors to me (likely caused by a virus) something that would be fixed by a System restore, but since you can't do that...
