1.) I've already explained perfectly what I can about the gork, how I originally thought nothing of it, and I eventually came to think it could mean something.  There was no scumminess about my changing opinions on the topic, but there is scumminess in continuing to go on and on about it when others insist you stop, until Heph finally put the cabosh on things.  I would have never pushed an argument this far in the last game, ever.  I would have mentioned it briefly, and for the most part, let it go after that, as I was afraid to look bad.

2.) In regards to the s on assets, it was a spelling mistake, as I've made clear already.  There was no intention of sounding scummy by accidentally adding an s to the end of this.  Labeling myself as an "asset" in the first place, was, however, intended to sound at least a little scummy, but I felt the tradeoff for what this can potentially offer the townies in the future in regards for possible evidence far outweighed me looking a little scummier, granted I didn't think this would lead to me being potentially lynched on the first day already.  If this is what it really takes for any potential evidence to become worthy of discussion, though, then so be it, lynch me, but please don't make it all wasted effort on my behalf, as it is rather insulting to put this much thought and time into a game only for all effort to mean nothing.

1. So you deliberately continued on and on about the idea? In what way should that be construed as scummy? This is first day, and people are willing to latch on to anything. I don't see how you could have come to the conclusion that continuing on about a subject is scummy. Do you have a reference for that? Last game was your first game, right? How did you "learn" that continuing about a subject was scummy? Because it didn't happen last game.

Additionally, I've re-read the thread (specifically the part you are referring to). To summarise:

1.Hat commented we should drop it.
2. Radish then said, "we shouldn't have gotten so carried away".
3. Zexen agreed with Hatmoza.
4. Then both I and Hatmoza brought up points related to the gorky thing, and dsis said, "can we just drop the gork thing please".
5.You responded by asking, "so what do you want to talk about then?".
6.Radish and dsis then both commented that it was pointless.
7.You then said, "I still found it to be interesting discussion that could lead to something, but it seems it has fallen apart and doesn't have any importance, so it was all a waste of my thinking."

After that you didn't mention it again. Looking at it again, you didn't even comment on it once people asked for it to stop.

This contrasts with your "I never would have pushed an argument this far into the game, ever".

In fact, like I said earlier, about your "persistence" not being scummy, it was this post by Radish that has seemed to clue you in on the "scumminess of continuing a closed topic".

Radish: "After I said it, the discussion on the flavour continued ("what else can we talk about") - so I hardly said it after the discussion stopped."

Radish is notoriously wrong about things. The flavour discussion was not continuing at all. You asked what we should talk about. I see that as neither scummy, nor continuing the flavour discussion.

wonk agrees here:

"baal said "gotta talk about something" and "what do you want to discuss then" both after you post and if you call that the discussion continuing I think it would only be to make it look like your post was worth something when it wasn't"

Just thought I'd mention this in regards to my different playstyle, you do realize last game was my first game ever, right?

Yeah, and I was impressed.  So when you seem much worse in this game, I wonder if it's because you're scum and panicking under pressure.

Well, I was informed after last game I acted far too innocent, and needed to act scummier as a townie.  So what do I do, I act scummier, and then what happens, I suck at acting scummier, and it leads to massive amounts of suspicion against me day 1.  I really know no other way to describe my behavior this game.

According to this post, I don't see how your assertion that your acting scummy was about continuing the discussion. It was about your reactions and responses, not your flavour discussion.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As for 2) I think that the pluralized asset thing is a little overblown. I could potentially see that when you said "assets" it was meant as a category label. So, to me, it doesn't seem like such a big deal.

To wrap it up, I'd also like to know why you'd blame me for saying, "townies need to act a little scummy", when you never asked for examples, guidance, etc. I don't see such a natural talent as yourself attempting something you have no real understanding of. You've only played one game. You don't know what's scummy, and if you did I don't see you knowing any examples of allowable scumminess. Townie scumminess is like hammering a townie. Townie scumminess is lurking. Townie scumminess is doing something scummy enough to make you look like possible scum, but not enough of a sure thing to warrant a lynch.

If I will see you lynched, it will be for all that, not anything else. I sincerely doubt you "tried" to act scummy.

However, I will unvote for now

because I think wonk might be on to something with radish. Baal, you never continued flavour discussion. It was others that did. Radish accused YOU specifically of doing so, and that irks me.

Wow alot has happened in the first day.  I still dont know what to make of it all.

First you have hatmoza being hatmoza,  which can be a good thing or a bad thing.

Then you get Final-Fan attacking theprof again.

Then the whole Gork thing with the flavor, which I hate people reading too much into the flavor anyway.

And now Baal with his defense over a few small errors that were caught and kinda over-reacting.

And a few other small things happening as well.

I am normally for a no lynch on day one,  but Baal is looking like a decent candidate for a lynch right now.

I just want to clear a couple things up.

1.) I did continue to dive deeper into the Gorky idea though.

Truck Post

Baal Post

(I hope those work, I'm not the greatest with some of these things)

Trucks said I was straying too far away from the overall discussion, but I didn't think that I was.  I thought that if we went just a little further, we may see how this all has a connection to Star Wars, and more importantly, this game.  I truly thought that by analyzing further, I really was catching onto something that was a crucial aspect of what exactly Gorky might mean.  You may not see it so, but I saw this as me pushing the Gorky idea.

Also, in regards to how I believe this is scummy.  I think you can categorize things into a couple cataegories.  Something can be a brief mention, where it may just be mentioned once or twice, or something can be a push at an idea, where it is continually brought up.  Now, I may sound stupid for thinking this, but whether or not I should feel this way, I always felt a slight scum vibe coming from any of the pushes.  Something about pushing an idea just seemed...scummy, to me.  So rather than just brief mentions, which is really a majority of what I did last game, I actually took an idea this game, and began to really push for further discussion on the idea.

2.) In regards to your point about me acting scummier.  But I WAS referring to the changes in my gameplay.  I never would have tried pushing arguments this game if I still wanted to act like the perfectly innocent person.  I never would have even thought about calling myself an "asset" in my first game on the first day, knowing that it (at least in my mind) has a scum vibe to it.  My defensiveness actually had nothing to do with my trying to have an overall scummier behavior in the game, it was simply my attitude taking over after my new behavior didn't seem to be working out.

3.) In regards to blaming you, now that I truly have toned down my attitude, there is no reason I should blame you.  I tried to take your words and shape my gameplay based on this.  This led to me making certain mistakes that were pointed out and exploited to their full extent because I still didn't know how to properly play based on using a strategy built from advice given to me.  This was my fault, not yours, and I know that now.

My problem with this, is that you just said ,"I've already explained perfectly what I can about the gork, how I originally thought nothing of it, and I eventually came to think it could mean something.  There was no scumminess about my changing opinions on the topic, but there is scumminess in continuing to go on and on about it when others insist you stop, until Heph finally put the cabosh on things"

You didn't continue on and on. The only thing remotely similar was trucks proposing that it was getting off topic, but he also continued to comment on it. When Hat specifically came out and said stop, you stopped.

Additionally, your latest post says that you truly believed what you were saying, but earlier you said that you were doing that to seem scummy. I see that you think that pushing an idea is scummy, and that it isn't to simply mention things, but it is the complete opposite. People who push ideas to an extreme amount is scummy, but people who casually comment on things and act aloof are even more scummy. The people with no vested interest are the scummiest players in the game! Look at last game. I don't see any pushing of ideas leading to scum. radish didn't push any ideas. Trucks didn't push any ideas. notstan didn't push any ideas. Dsis pushed some ideas, but it wasn't that which was scummy, it was his discussion about mafia numbers and insisting on the number being 3 (which is very odd), and his superficial questioning.

To turn the tables a bit, the things that they WERE scummy for are things you've exhibited but not acknowledged as being scummy (or not yet pointed out as being suspicious). For example,

1) Trucks focused on the "mafia relationships" part of my argument while ignoring the argument about wishy-washiness (the very thing that Heph and vette were in full support of). It is very scummy to defend against only one idea, when there are several. This is something you've done by focusing on the assets argument.

2) Dsis was scummy for "metagaming", which is basically focusing on everything OTHER THAN analysing what people are saying. This involves talking about rules, setup, possible teams, flavor, etc. A true town looks at what players do and analyzes behavior, not game structure. This is also a component of the gork theorizing.

I must admit, I'm having a very hard time putting myself in your shoes.

Also, your theory was that voting no lynch would give gork a kill at night, and yet you voted no lynch.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

Also, your "makes enough sense, i guess" is scummy.

Only scum WANT to agree despite not understanding.

For instance, if you are scum and hat is town, and my vote was for hat and you questioned my motivation, it would be typical to agree with me in order to press the vote. However, in my experience, when someone agrees with "i guess" it means that they REALLY want to press the vote and will agree with any reasoning so long as the vote sticks.

Radish did this either last game or the one before. ABC said he had secret info on dsis. Radish said, "you have info that could out a mafia, but won't tell us?". ABC said that it should wait til later or something. Radish then appeared relieved, saying, "I guess that makes sense". Radish was scum and was nervous about the info. Radish really didn't want the info to come out, he was just "playing town" when questioning the motivation to keep the info a secret. However, he was quick to accept the reasoning, despite not understanding. He didn't want that information out.

This is why I questioned the "i guess".

You have done a lot of things that I'd consider to be noobie scum mistakes. I cannot believe that you're doing any of it on purpose, either.

This specific post is more of a note to myself, that doesn't necessarily require a response, but wouldn't hurt to have one either. Feel free to ignore.

After reading through the last few pages, I am torn between voting for either Radish or Baal, but I think I am more inclided to lynch Baal for today, simply because he came off as more defensive, and the comment in regards to scumminess was quite volatile, if somewhat genuine.

"Somebody asked me what I define as "extreme."  Being that I can't see my being voted out as doing anything except hurting the town, this would classify as one of those moments.

The only chance I stand of not being voted out is if the other suspect, radish, is voted out, so radish it will be.

Unvote

Vote: Radish"

And that comment just gives me a feeling like it's an attempt to divert the attention onto someone else, another likely suspect that has just as high a chance of getting lynch as him. In terms of voting I think I'll hold my unvote for a couple of hours, the day finishes in about 17.5 hours after this post, so I'll wait about 15 before making a final decision, maybe by then the decision will be much clearer.

you should definitely make a new post explaining to Heph that you aren't voting. Took me a moment to realize that you were quoting, because it looked like you were contradicting yourself by saying you would vote for baal but then vote radish.
