Forums - General - Does anyone just have a regular home phone anymore?

I don't know anyone that has a regular landline, homephone anymore. Everybody I know, has the cellphone. So what's up with that? Back in my day, everybody had a landline home phone and hardly anyone had the cellphone, but back then a cellphone was used for, you know making calls. That's before all of those gizmo's and what not. So the cellphone, killed the payphone industry and pretty much killed the home phone business. So,what's the advanced cellphone, going to kill next? Maybe the mp3 player's,since you can listen to music on your phone. So what's next in line?

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I have a landline, and everyone else around here has one. In fact, besides my brother everyone I know has a landline

Most people I know don't have land lines anymore.

I have a landline too. And as others have mentioned, most of the people I know have both landlines and mobile phones.

And LOL @ a person with your username making this topic.

Most of my friends who live alone only have a cell phone, those who live at home have a family phone line (in addition to a cell phone).

Most people still do, given that internet providers generally offer phone (even if it's your cable company, they'll usually toss in digital phone in a package), so unless you're relying totally on your wireless provider, you probably have or should have a landline

I actually have 2 landlines, one of which is from my Internet provider.

For single people or possibly even couples, it doesn't make sense to have a land line but for families it can make sense.  Five cell phones can cost a lot of money (mom, dad, three kids) and kids don't need cell phones.  In that case, it makes perfect sense to have a land line since it can be cheaper than a cell phone plan.
