every body seems to love the idea of Nintendo releaseing a Wii HD next year, and that's despite the fact they'll have to buy a new Nitendo console, but hey people love Nintendo and Nintendo loves sucking people for all their worth.

What? Can you explain what you mean by the bolded part?

You know, because Nintendo is completely money-hungry.  They like to take all of your cash...

...

 OK I CAN'T KEEP A STRAIGHT FACE !!!

-They are by far the cheapest console this generation.  They are almost half the price of their closest competitor, and almost 2/5 the price of the other.  Same in the handhelds.

-Yes, they are selling the system at a profit, but here's a news flash: unlike their competitors, they don't HAVE billions of dollars to lose on a console, HOPING that it will one day be profitable.  With this in mind, as long as they are at such a reasonable price, who really minds that they make $60 on what you pay them?$120 to make sure you get a hard drive that can fit all of your stuff?  No, the 512mb is fine for most people.

-Wii games are, on average, $10 cheaper than either 360 or Wii games.  Don't even mention the $60 Boogie or Guitar Hero, because I'll counter it with $170 Rock Band.  If person A buys a Wii and 20 games, they have spent about $300 less than person B, who bought a Pro 360 and the same amount of games.

-Do you see Nintendo charging

-Maybe you are referring to virtual console games?  True, they are slightly overpriced, but the vast majority of these are better quality than the competition's downloads.  What would you rather spend $10 on, Geometry Wars, Everyday Shooter, or Zelda: Ocarina of Time?  I'm not dissing the other two in any way (I've put many hours into Geo. Wars), but anyone who doesn't see this difference in value is just ignorant.

So, yeah, saying that Nintendo 'sucks people for all they are worth' is just being an ignorant fanboy.

Around the Network

In Australia in terms of value I would either choose ps3 or 360. 360 if I just wanted to play games and the ps3 if I wanted games and hi def movies. Which is why I bought myself a ps3.

@Destroyer and Branko: Now that is a fair point, and kudos to you guys. But you must understand that Australia is an outlier in this area, and that in most places the Wii is much cheaper.

Probably when Wii reaches 20M+ it will draw more 3rd parties, the gamecube did not do as well as the old Xbox or Ps2 and 3rd parties went away. It will take time before they come back and only when it is obvious they can make money back on titles.
Should be pretty clear by now that Nintendo is back in the Green.

Other problem which Wii and PS3 also has is the motion controller. Developers are new to this and in my opinion pretty slow to implement any but the most basic form's of use for this new interface.
On Ps3 for example many games are still using only the thumbsticks , and where motion is used it's sometimes quite minimal and often badly misused or sometimes flawed (Bazing angles 2 demo uses multisample smoothing on the motion steering which is ok but i noticed when framerate misses the steering suffers) .
IMO developers are having alot of trouble with motion because they are an inexperienced bunch of amatures. , in wii bowling you can cheat by flicking the controller, in lego starwars they completly stuffed up the lightsabre motion etc.
Anyway 2008 may see an improvement.
