I have to add this because I am pumped and or super pumped to be getting this. I won't even wait until after work, I will go pick it up on my lunch break.

This makes me want to go fight somebody. Just walk into a mall, hit the play button on a boom box, yell out "MORTAL KOMBAT!!", and fight the first person to look at me funny. Yeah, that means you granny, it's on.

Well I got my portal kombat and 50 dollar gift certificate from Toysrus. I've only played a bit of mortal kombat though, will pop in portal 2 a bit later tonight.

Really loving Mortal Kombat. It feels like a very fleshed out game. Spent an hour and a half in story mode which is really cool, it does make me want to keep playing to see what happens, especially given that I don't know much "Mortal kombat lore". Did the training course and completed it, didn't teach me anything I couldn't have figured out or didn't already know, but it did get me a trophy. Did a few of the challenge ladder, which was cool, and then played a couple of online matches. Lost both but it was close. Really enjoyed it though, but I there was a bit more button lag that I would've liked.

I played as Kung Lao vs Sub zero in my first online match and on round 3 he beat me by a hair, only had a sliver of health left, but he got the last hit in. Second one was Johnny vs Smoke and he beat me in 2 rounds, but they were both close. I love the idea of the king of the hill mode where you just play winner, and that's what I had joined, but it was only me and one other guy in there.

IMO...am i the only one that felt the character designs in the story mode looked kinda hidious? Like they kept the same graphics and look from the PS2 versions? Sonya Blade looked pretty manly and fugly to me, dunno what Jonny Cage was talking about during the story mode lol

Alright, some of these story mode missions are just annoying. Seriously, I have to fight both Goro AND Kintaro at the same time? Really? And now I'm at a set of endurance matches where I have to beat 3 people in a row on a single health bar (with a character I don't particularly like to boot). Overall I like the idea of the story mode, but it could use a little work on some of the execution.

Also, just a pet peeve on it is how you play pretty much only as the good guys, which makes the bad guys look completely incompetent. Ermac seemed like a total bad ass when I fought him with Lui Kang in the tournament. He seems like a total loser after beating him ten times. Baraka and Shiva come off as total losers because they do nothing but get their ass beat for the entirety of the story. I mean Noob seems so freakin cool, but he never does anything in the story except get owned. They really need to give some props to the villians in the next story.

I'm so glad that's not really MK3. I hate it when they try to adapt something like this and make it "realistic". Motal Kombat is about ancient Chinese mythology not some griddy crime thriller.

I thought that was just the one off web series that somebody did. I heard they got it picked up to be made into a miniseries, but not a movie or anything.

Oh buddy, just you wait when you have to face Shao Kahn. That motherfucker is cheap as hell.

I finished the story mode, and I liked it alot. My main is Raiden, although I'm thinking of learning Smoke too cause he is badass. I played some of the challenge tower missions, not bad..time killer for sure. It is too bad that PSN is down, I really wanted to try it online. Overall, truly a great game. I even think it is better than Marvel vs Capcom 3...

Does anybody know of any good competitive Vs videos. I'd like to see how the elite crowd is doing things, and I always like to watch a good match.

Slight story spoilers.

The first Shao Kahn fight I didn't think was TOO bad. He kicked my ass the first several times, but after I learned his moves I beat him in 2 matches barely taking a scratch. But I really like Lui Kang, I'm not sure how well this is going to go with Raiden. Is he harder the second time? That's just going to make it worse using Raiden (not my favorite character, Right now I like Kabal, Lui Kang, and Kung Lao), and him being harder.

Over all I like the story mode, it's a thousand times better than the story modes of any other fighting game, I just wish it was balanced a bit better. I really hate the 2 on 1 fights, or the fights against characters that can do over 50% damage and don't get hit stunned.

The first fight, I took the cheap way and let the tiemr run out. The second time I encountered him, that tactic didn't work so well...Yes, he is harder the second time and way cheaper. Prepare to be enraged. I was about to throw my controller several times, the fight was THAT annoying. Just be patient though, and don't go for fancy combos.
