I seriously don't get how people get so many nasty things on their computers. If that ever happened to me I would just format the PC :P

Ditto. Once a computer starts giving me enough grief, I format and reinstall. I figure that I could take 2-3 hours dicking around with an install to fix it and then I'd still have to format anyway so I may as well take the 3 hours to format and reinstall software right off the bat.

Besides, as much as Windows has improved with Win7, the registry is still a problem and can slow down even the fastest computers (such as the year-old install of Win7 I have on this 2.93 i7 with 6 gigs of RAM). The computer should fly but it's not much faster than a C2D machine I have next to me with a fresh install.

Microsoft really needs to get rid of the fucking registry. Such a bad, bad idea and due to their legacy needs in business, they refuse to ditch it and move to something more similar to a *nix setup, which is both more stable and stays faster longer.

Oh, if that's the case then it should be no surprise. But I'd recommend you format it...it's been a long time.
