I lived in a old victorian house when I was younger that had some unexplained occurances in it, not saying it was a ghost for sure, but it made me belive in them.

LOL. Seriously? More details please!

my whole family saw crap in that house...

every night when I would sleep upstairs there would be footsteps up and down the main hallway.  They would get louder and closer, then further away and so on.  I have no clue what would have made the noise other than someone walking around as it wasn't anything that could be mistaken for an air vent (there wasn't one) or wind etc.  I eventually had to start sleeping downstairs because it creeped me out so much.  My Mom had become used to it, but I never could.

There was a room that we stored stuff in that gave anyone that walked in a sense of dread and that they were being watched at all times.  This could have been electromagnetic fields, but one never knows.

My grandmother swore that she followed an "intruder" up the stairs once only to find that nobody was there.

I'm also pretty sure I saw someone standing in the window once, although the mind does play tricks on someone when they see random shapes.

so yeah, some could be explained away with science if an investigation was done, but it was enough to make me thankful when we moved after my grandfather died.

The first sentence of this post, taken out of context, would make people think you guys need to clean the house more often.

And yeah, most of them can be explained away, but if you didn't feel comfortable in the house it's a good thing you guys moved out.

BTW, do you think your grandfather is a haunting the house now?

Nah I actually don't think that ghosts are dead people "haunting" things, my belief is that we are seeing echoes of the past somehow.  This is mainly due to the way most describe ghosts is that they do their business and don't take notice to us walking around.  not sure why this only happens in certain places, but yeah :P

another theory I like is that many think that electromagnetic fields can make some hallucinate into seeing things.  Some people are more open to this, and as such see ghosts more often than others.

Can't remember the studies, but scientests have actually been able to switch on the part of the brain where such phenomina can originate and induce hallucinations. This is further supported by the fact that many people like to apply personification to nature and the fact that our sense organs such as our eyes for example don't actually "see" everything we view, with much of it being extrapolation by the brain. Meaning mistakes happen and you can see something without it actually being there.

So ghosts can be wholly explained without the supernatural being brought into it as errors or byproducts that occur in naturally evolved flawed brains. Which of course would absolutely mean that some people would be pre-disposed to experience such phenomina more frequently.

That doesn't mean that ghosts don't exist of course, but the burden isn't on the negative position to prove that they don't.

Well I think the misterious heat signatures and stuff that people find in haunted areas and the temperature differences and stuff to be evidence.

But my friend lives in a supposed haunted house at least he claims it is. He said at night he hears footsteps and doors openning and closing.  however he said his ghost is violent. He claims at least that a few nights he has been punched when in bed. He said he even had bruises and one night he said he woke up and something was choking him but no one was their and its stopped when he grabbed his neck.

My mom's old roomate saw her dead cat after using a Ouija board. She said that the cat would wander around her house. Eventually she called in a pastor who went around the house praying over everything and that the cat never came back.

Another of my friends was haunted by a dog. Well her house was, I was over once and heard a growling noise. I also heard a bark. But she didn't own a dog and neither did her neighbours. It creeped the crap out of me and I investigated trying to find the source of the noise. But I couldn't. Their was definatly something growling and barking in her house. Though I never actually saw the dog, she claimed she had but I didn't just heard the growling and barking.

Me myself have seen apirition's but they didn't look human. As a child I saw a lion man who would sit in my window or walk around my room. I was scared shitliss and nobody else could see him. I also saw things that looked like orangutans hanging on peoples backs. I also saw ora's and shit. But my house was prayed over and the lion disapeared. The orrah's and orangutans disapeared when I got near the end of highschool.

I also went to see a pastor preach once and witnessed an excersizm. Though I must say their are tons of fakers out their and while this preacher seemed legit. Its hard to tell if it was real or not. But if it was fake it was really well done. A lady started yelling and the pastor while he was preaching. She was yelling in a very deep manlike voice and it was so loud I could hear it from a few alses back. She kept yelling for his to shut up and stuff. The security team tried removing her from the auditorium but she fought back like four guys, this lady pulled four grown men down the center aisle. Finally the pastor came up with a couple more security and prayed over her while they tried holding her down. She was hissing and twitching. If it was fake it was definatly well done, it was whacked to watch. But even if that encounter was faked which it might have been I don't know. Its still really hard for me to believe based on personal experiances and friends experiances that demon's and spirits don't exist.

I of course believe that none of the above are ghosts, rather that they are demon's. But based on personal experiances and friends experiances I can't write off the existance of spirits. Also as a Christian the belief in the spiritual world (Demon's and Angels) is undeniable.

It's alittle hard to deny the existance of spirits, the evidence is over whelming, if you deny the evidence and write it off their is still the tens of thousands to millions of encounters each year. People's personal experiances.

@Joelcool7:

Well I think the misterious heat signatures and stuff that people find in haunted areas and the temperature differences and stuff to be evidence.

The temeprature in my room is tsrangely different that in the rest of my house? Am I haunted by the gay couple who used to live here?

My mom's old roomate saw her dead cat after using a Ouija board.

What's up with those board thingys? They always seem to pop up in horror movies? Where can I buy one?

Me myself have seen apirition's but they didn't look human. As a child I saw a lion man who would sit in my window or walk around my room. I was scared shitliss and nobody else could see him. No offence, but did you try seeing a psychiatrist about that?

It was most likely orchestarted by the pastor. It seemed that way honestly.

It's alittle hard to deny the existance of spirits, the evidence is over whelming, if you deny the evidence and write it off their is still the tens of thousands to millions of encounters each year. People's personal experiances.

Since people's senses can be blurred (see the electromagnetism example of spdk1), you can't really rely on people's personal experiences in this case.

Yes actually I have autism so I have a psychiatrist. The Psychiatrist had me draw tons of pictures and talk about stuff. He concluded I was making the apiritions up and had a wild imagination. He found nothing wrong with me. He said Autistic people don't usually see things and that after talking with me he thought I was making the apiritions up as a rouse.

But as I said I continued seeing the apiritions and ora like stuff into my teens, and obviously I don't believe I was just making it up. Also if it was something mental it wouldn't just dissapear in my late teens. Personally I think it was a spiritual gift that I lost when I started sinning alot. But you don't believe in spiritual gifts and such so you wouldn't understand.

First of all, I had no ideea you had autism. What type of autism? I suppose it's the High Functioning kind, else you wouldn't be able to write properly and coherently, no?

Second, are you sure you didn't somehow convince yourself that you were seeing them? Were you lonely for example? And were they scary, or were they your "friends"? And why do you consider seeign those beings a "spiritual gift"?

Oh, and weren't autistc people suppose to be extremely rational?
