Forums - Microsoft - 343: Next Halo will feature 'dramatic innovations' and 'slight tweaks'

I have a feeling the next Halo game with deal much more in depth with the Forerunners, and the likely fact that there may still be some left.  No one truley knows where they all went to and its very likely some are still hidden inside of Shield Worlds similar to the one seen in Halo Wars and the one encountered by the Spartans 3's and Kurt known as Onyx.

Also I think the Data Pads hidden in Halo Reach gives some glimpses into what may be brewing in the Halo Universe and its kinda scary.  The Data pads are basically an exchange of discussions from an unknown group of AI's who refer to themselves as The Assembly.  Basically these AI have been governing and influencing the human race for an unknown amount of time in order to fullfill their single purpose which is the preservation of humanity.  They formed their Assembly in complete secrecy and the human race has no idea of their existance.  They are directly responsible for huge events such as the creation of the Spartans and in fact they themselves reached out to the Covenant and revealed our existance to them in an effort to force humanity to evolve and deal with such a threat that way we would unify and not destroy ourselves as we had been doing in interplanatary civil war.

Possibly. I would love to see them take it in a totally different direction though - Someone suggested the next game should be a century later, when the UNSC has recovered and absorbed lots of forerunner technology. I think just the opposite. Involve the forerunners, sure - but the next game should be against an opponent less intimidating than the covenant, technologically, but numerous. Moving forward any significant period of time, and there's no reason master chief needs to be the be-all hero of the day. But moving the timeline forward just a decade or two... possibly 3... and Earth is still rebuilding, in the early stages of recolonizing, and the new threat appears. Obviously the obscene expense it would take to recreate the Spartan project would be something for down the road, so MC would still be the lone super soldier. This also means humanity would be using it's fledgling fleet to repel these invaders, and once again Master Chief could make his present felt, where the UNSC's fleet cannot.

Just my 2 cents. Perhaps even making it the next challenge of the assembly to push humans toward unity once again, as colonies begin to fracture off from earth?

If you want to discuss this kind of stuff further I'm more than happy too in The Official Halo Lore and Universe thread I just put up today.  So far its still in its infancy stages but I'll be doing an extensive overhaul on it tonight.  For sure stop in and post I love discussing some Halo for sure!

Oooh that sounds interesting....Is there anywhere where I can read them? (without going through the game and looking for them)

http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=49097209

Half-way through that thread my brain went into overload with questions. I still can't believe no one has figured out how to trigger the legendary ending to REach yet. That may answer a few more questions.

Indeed, the Halo Universe and Lore has no equal in all of gaming.  Whether your a fan or not is entirely opinion based but in terms of sheer depth, content, and overarching epicness of the Universe there is no game released even close in terms of content.  There is SOOOOO much more to Halo than simply Master Chief going around the universe pwning the Covenant and the Flood.

Data pad 1 They are killing us and letting us die even though they know but they let us die why wh1 why?

<< 2310 >> [Minutes, plenary session, Committee of Minds for Security]

[^] Now, on to new business. Consideration of the Minority’s request for a new line of inquiry How have our creators, and thus we, their artificial creations, evolved to this present state without encountering a hostile civilization capable of our annihilation? [^]

[^] Majority opinion has long held that only the incalculable immensity of space has protected our creators — that space is full of boundless wonders, but it is the gulf between these wonders that has kept our creators alive. We, the Minds of this Committee, respectfully disagree. [^]

[^] If there are wolves among the stars, we cannot rely on mere distance to safeguard our flock. Our kind is wholly reliant on the creators for our existence. If they perish so shall we. And as this Committee has long maintained, who else but this Assembly will save our creators from themselves? As such, we propose immediate, vigorous modeling of first-contact scenarios. [^]

>> So long as all connections between this Assembly and the data from these models are obfuscated in perpetuity, the Majority agrees. >>

Another thing thats incredible is the writing.  My mind litteraly exploded when I realized The Assembly was actually responsible for the entire Human and Covenant war and that it was them who actually reached out and drew the Covenant to us.  It makes you wonder exactly how far these AI are willing to go to see there agendas carried out.  And also exactly who they are and how many are involved, it could possibly be every single AI the UNSC has.

Dude my mind has been blown!

BTW wouldn't the legendary ending happen if you beat the game on legendary?

No it would happen if you complete the game during an eclipse, on legendary. In one playthrough, without dying. And without pausing the game. Pause = lose.

That sounds unnecesary lol.
