Forums - General - German news group runs photos of Afghan killings (with photos)

SEATTLE – Graphic photos showing U.S. troops and dead Afghans that the Army was keeping under wraps for a war crimes probe were carried by a German news organization Monday, with one showing a soldier smiling as he posed with a bloodied and partially clothed corpse.

The photos published by Der Spiegel were among several seized by Army investigators looking into the deaths of three unarmed Afghans last year. Five soldiers based at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, south of Seattle, have been charged with murder and conspiracy in the case.

Thats sick, but I'll wait until all five are found guilty in court and are sentenced. Killing unarmed civilians is a horrible atrocity. Problem is some sick basterds join the army with the sole goal of killing someone. These individuals should be weeded out. Why is it that you rarely hear of other Nato soldiers killing or mistreating civilians?

All the stories I hear about are always American's. I'm not sure if their have been similiar cases in Britian or France. But I sure haven't heard of them. Canada shut down a whole division of the army after a somali civilian was killed. I haven't heard of killings by my countries troops since Somalia. Thats around 20 years ago. Though prisoner abuse is reported sometimes I have yet to hear of an innocent unarmed civilian being killed.

I think America doesn't do a good enough job training their troops. Or keeping them in line!
